i have a question about my layout.., how do you put a background in the blog? Options

i made my own banner, and two backgrounds; one for the main background of the page, and one for the background in the blog, and it looks all pretty and everything, but i cant get the background in the blog to work. i want it fixed, and centered. i am probably not using the right code for it, and putting it in the wrong place too. i've guessed on where to put it, and tried to look on other layouts for where it goes, and i've looked for a script for the code too, but i can't find one, and i can't make it work! if you know how to do this, any help would be great! THANKS!
