The definition of makeup-Cosmetics applied to the face.

I've noticed a lot of boards about make-up and people having trouble with it so I decided to make a topic to help. But before you apply make-up, you should clean your face.

Cleansing of the face-Get a cleaning product and follow the directions on the bottle or box. Once done, dry your face completley. You can also shape your eyebrows if wanted/needed.

Applying Blush-The easiest way to apply blush is sweep downward from the ear to about middle of your cheek. Remember to always choose the color that is closest to your skin tone.

Eyeshadow-Eyeshadow is pretty tricky. What I usually do is have the brush ready with the eyeshadow on it and hold one eye closed and one eye open. Look straight into the mirror and apply the eyeshadow smoothly and evenly on the eye lid. The easiest way is to go from left to right starting at the bottom (closest to the bottom eyelashes) Stand back and look in the mirror once done to both sides. Look ok? Good. Now lets try some more.

Mascara-Mascara is pretty tricky too. Make sure that you dont pump the bottle. Just pull the applicator thingy out of the bottle and that should be enough. Be sure to get rid of any chunks and that the mascara is evenly on the brush. Get close to the mirror and concentrate because if you mess up, you'll either poke your eye or get mascara on your face which trust me, is not good. Take the brush and open your eyes wide. Start at the part of your eyelashes that is closest to your actual eye. Slowly turn the brush while moving it to the end of your eyelashes. Once done, do the same to the other side. You should do pretty good if its your first time.

Eye liner-Eye liner is pretty easy if your applying it right and it looks great! Just be sure to choose the right color to use. Look into the mirror and try to look forward as if you were looking over Michal Jordans head tongue.gif Ok, well a little shorter. Take the eyeliner in the other hand and apply it to the part of your eye lid right above the lower eyelashes. Be sure not to poke your eye and make it even.
If your using liquid eyeliner, it should only be worn above the top lashes. Pencil eye liner should be worn above the bottem lashes.

Lip liner-This is probably the easiest thing of all, along with applying the lipstick/lipgloss. Start off with massaging your lips with a wet washcloth. Then, using the color of your choice, trace the outline of your mouth. To hard? Try little parts of the outline of your mouth at a time. You might want a friend or yes, dear ol' mom (who knows how to apply it) help you a little. Be sure that if you are applying a dark colored lipstick, the lipliner is a lighter color than the lipstick.

Lipstick-Ahh...my best friend! Lipstick is one of the easiest things to use. Now, what kind of lipstick you use (the actual lipstick that you twist to make it more or less or the kind in a bottle that you apply with a brush) is the thing.
Brush
If your using a brush kind, dip your brush into the bottle so that half of the brush is covered in your lipstick. Apply it evenly to your lips. Done? Press your lips together and release. Whala! Youre done.

Stick
If your using the stick kind, this might be a little harder than the brush kind. Part your lips a little and apply to the bottom lip first. Make sure you get all of it. Tilt your head back a little and apply to top lip. After, open your mouth as if you were at the dentist getting a check-up (yes I know nobody likes the dentist) Apply lipstick to sides of lips (Cant really describe it well) Done? Press your lips together and release. For a sexier look, add a little lipgloss happy.gif

Tips:
Dont over-do your make up. It looks bad.
Dont apply tons and tons of make up. It clogs your pores stubborn.gif
Always clean your face at the end of the day, getting rid of make up your wearing
Always feel good about yourself _smile.gif and always wear a smile :D
If you have zits (yes off the subject) do not put toothpaste or nail polish remover on them. It does nothing but ruin your skin. Use clean & clear or neutragena or something good. Remember, cover up is a good thing so dont be shy wink.gif

Thanks to karamelle for some tips =)

Comments? Critisizm? Suggestions? I'm not done, but I will edit and add more later.

Ah, these are pretty good tips, especially for someone who can't wear makeup for their life (Like me, but then again, I normally just avoid makeup in general)

also, it needs mantioning that when u use mascara, dont pump the bottle. It doesnt get you any more mascara, and it dires it out faster, making it clumpier and harder to apply. Just pull it out of the bottle and that should be enough for both eyes. If you're like me and a total junkie, then one pump for each eye. And if/when you do your bottom lashes, star from undre the lash and stroke outwards, and with the top lashes start from underneath them (dont go on top cuz most of the time it will clump) and do short criss cross strokes outwards. like this //\\/\//\\//\/\\//\\/ something in that motion. It covers you lashes better, and keeps them from sticking together and making it look like you have spiders growing out of your eyes. Also, always put your eyeshadow on before you do your mascara. if you do it afterwards, the color will stick to the mascara. If you do it before hand, if any does get on your lashes, just run your finger across the tip of the lashes, to sort of make them flick, and that should shake of any extra eyeshadow. Then apply mascara like I said. haha I'm such a make up junkie, I've taken a lot of time to study it. I read a lot of books on it cuz I'm a loser. But my makeup always looks good!I can actually put most of it on without looking anymore. pretty sad. I'll probably help and add more tips later :D

Okay more. with eyeliner, that technique should only be used for pencil eyeliner, and if you are just learning to put on make up, dont use liquid anyway. Its for people who dont mind a really dramatic look. Anyway, its actually not reccomended that you pull down on your eye to put on eyeliner. It stretches the skin and u will get wrinkles and bags there in your later years. Think for the future haha. Try looking forward, like you are looking over a tall persons head. not up, cuz then its hard to see, but forward. and you will have to get used to the feeling of a pencil going under your eye. A lot of peoples eyes water when they first start. You just have to get used to it. BUT its important, if you have been waering the liner and your eyes dot stop watering, it means you are allergic to it, so dont buy that brand again. And also, u shouldnt apply eyeliner directly on the rim of your eye. It can clog your tear ducts and cause you to get a stye. You should always apply it to the base of your eyelashes (on the bottom) and leave the rim of your eyelid alone. If you want to use liquid eyeliner, start with a little, and then gradually add more, cuz its so easy to go over board. With me, I've been wearing liquid for about 5 years now, so I go dramatic. Its normal for me. I'm the eye makeup queen. People I know look at me weird when I dont lol. So yeah. But when using liquid, first just practise getting used to the pressure of the brush. All different type of liquid eyeliner have all types of different applicators. I say go for a felt one, just because they are easier to control. My favorite personally is line intensifiue by loreal. It has a felt tip. Some have brushes, and thats great if you dont want a thicker more dramatic line. Some have really hard felt tips, and I hate those. THey always lose the pointyness and become usless. To apply, start near the inside of your eye (closest to your nose) and drag to the outer edge. Some people like doing the cat eye thing. like you will see Kathleen do, and I do it as well. Go check out member pictures if you wanna know what I'm talking about. Pencil is what you want if you are going for that smudged shadowy look, and liquid is great for the sharper defined dramatic look. Its just taste and style.

Yeah thats all for now lol.
