www.wikipedia.org has amazing info; i use that for everything because the articles and in-depth, comprehensive, organized, yet easy to understand.

oh SHOOT, i am doing this exact topic for my 8th grade exit project. I am actually supposed to be working on it right this second. Well, you said your internet have some problems so there's an issue in Time magazine i think it was Oct. 4th, 2004. It's the cover story... good luck!
