In your opinion, do you feel that your school has an environment where mutual trust exists between all students of the community?

in my opinion, absolutely. at my school, you can leave your backpack infront of your locker all day and no one will steal anything. tons of people leave things out in the open, even if its a cellphone or an ipod. even when you log onto a computer and forget to log out you can trust people to either not delete your work or save and log out for you.

i could go on but i'm really interested to see what other people have to say. also, state whether you go to a private school or a public school. i go to a private school, so that might be one reason why its easy to trust people.

I go to a public school, and honestly, I don't really trust people in my "hall." This year alone, 23 things have been stolen in my hall. 8th grade (about 90 kids). _dry.gif Backpacks have been stolen, cellphones, iPods, lunches...

hmm..lets see. in the middle of the school day my car was broken into, my stereo and cds were stolen. at a football game my car was broken into..my back pack and shoes were stolen. Mutual trust? I wish. If I turned my back on something for one second it would be gone.

yeah everyone basically trusts each other in my school .. middle school .. if something is EVER stolen it's usually just a joke between a group of friends, ya know ?

like last week or so, i lost my PhD pen .. that i take like everywhere .. [[ to do those pen tricks when i'm bored .. ]] .. and then someone found it in tha hallway and gave it to me .. heh

My school, people always steal things. That's why I put nothing in my locker except books, just in case some of those kids who used to have my locker knows the combination and opens it and tries to steal my stuff. Sigh.

Wow, my school's the best school in our district and it's not even as happy and peaceful as yours.

Once, I accidently left the lock on my athletic locker unlocked and my money was stolen from my backpack and so were my jeans. But the next morning I found my jeans outside in the rain..

And a locker open? Most likely everything stolen or terrorized, unless a decent person sees your locker and closes it for you.

Ipod or cellphone out in the open? STEAL STEAL STEAL.

Yeah, I go to a public school.

In some places, yes. Like before school, I leave my backpack out of the middle of nowhere, and in classrooms when I walk around. We have a pretty good trust in our school. However, there are some of the "problem" people who like to play Hide the Backpack.

And I have a good rep. at my school, so they wouldn't dare take my stuff. People only seem to do that to the "problem" children.

I go to a public school, to clarify your second question.

I know my school doesn't have any trust whatsoever, but the rotc building here that's across from the school has some trust.

I don't know what you would consider my school because it's a dodds school, for military families. I guess it's a public school.

i have to say no to that question. I go to a huge university with 35,000+ students and you cant trust to have your things left out in the open without the fear of it getten stolen. Because my school is also public there are alot of people that are not students that come on campus, some with no good intentions.

i go to a university as well. you definately cant trust leaving your things out in the open. we're situated in a college town and always have ppl coming on campus randomly. its a little "safer" in the dorms to leave things lying around because ppl might know whos stuff it is. for the most part, i dont trust all teh ppl here

My high school isn't private, and well.............I don't trust leaving valuables in my bag out in an area where I won't be in, especially the library corridor. A lot of things especially mobile phones, mp3's electronic stuff and wallets have been stolen.

Someone stole my jumper one morning when I put my bag down with my jumper in it and went in the library for like 5 minutes, I came out and it was gone. Its my last year of high school, infact, I've only got like 1/2 a year to go, I ain't getting myself a new jumper that cost like AUS$45!!!! So I went to lost property, grabbed a jumper that was the closest to fitting me, washed it like 3 times and then decided to wear it..........sux coz its smaller than my old jumper.....coz its like brand new, not worn out or anything.

Well I dont go to a school now.

But when I did, way back in 5th grade, No.

There was no mutual trust between anyone, people would steal things and then use them right infront of your face. Though in 5th grade the worst thing someone could steal was probably a pencil, tehe ^^

Never. At my school, if you leave something lying around it'll get stolen. If you forgot something and you go back to get it, most likely it won't be there anymore. Seriously, people will steal anything...

I go to a private school (Rock on rich dead mom, leaving inheritance!) and everywhere you go, people are uttering racial slurs and such. It's a mostly black school, for the fact of leaving stuff in the open, walk to the bathroom and back and your backpack is gone. Lol, in our school we even steal pens. Logging on a computer and not logging off and people saving it for you? What a joke, in our school we log each other out without saving on PURPOSE laugh.gif . In our shchool we got grarfiitii we lite stuff on fire, rumors spread, i guess it's ghetto.

Even though I like my school, there is no such trust. You have to make sure you know where your belongings are at all times or someone will definitely take it. There are a lot of thieves at my school.

Errrr, as far as i know it's not owned or have to pay anything to the goverment (our goverment is Sh*t). What makes a private school private and a public school public? Considering that the cost to get in is like, what 3000 dollars a trimester, per student and this isn't even collage.

i'm gonna say sort of because at my school, things are hardly stolen, people don't really get bullied around in our school, we never had a fight yet this whole school year, we always joke around in our school and never take things to serious, and when a fellow classmate is hurt or died in a car accident or something, we would have hold a moment of silence for that person.
fyi i go to a public school.

no, when people don't lock their lockers, they get their shoes stolen.
Also, when someone leave anything (jackets, books, accessories) on the table just to go to the bathroom, the chances are, their belongings will be missing.
It's hard to believe in my school, but there are a lot of dishonest people in this world. Human nature, just like what Thomas Hobbs said.

you can leave your things in some placesand be fairly certain that they won't get stolen, but not others. for example, i can leave my gym bag ontop of the lockers in the girls locker room all day and nothing will happen to it. but if i leave my bag outside, i can almost promise something will be taken. things are stolen every day at my school--books, money, shoes, clothes, ipods.. anything. oh, and i go to private catholic school.

no mutual trust in my school. you just pray it's not gone.

( by the way, the topic is " Mutual Trust between students at your school?, in your opinion..." which means all people do is state thier opinon, which means IT'S NOT A DEBATE, DON'T MOVE IT THERE. )

yea i think most mods realize that, but if a mod does move it to debate, expect a fiery PM explaining how this isn't a debate.

at my school, there is no trust at all. The njrotc building used to be a trustful place, but last year, i had my money stolen twice on different occasions, and my cell phone was stolen also [however, i did get that back because whoever took it left it in my teacher's/senior naval instructor's office two days after it was stolen]. this year though, the stealing has stopped, so i guess it's a little trust worthy, but i dont leave my stuff alone anymore after the incident last year. and by the way, my school is public.

Well..my school....is one big family. However, if you do leave your bokbag in the hall. No one will mess with it. But...if we know who it belongs to...we normally put stuff in it..example, a roll of toilet paper, ya know just small teeny harmless fun pranks. nothing major

In my school; there is alot of racism. And that leads to things being stolen. For example, many hispanics tend to pick on Asians. They steal things from them. My friend had her cellphone stolen recently. I could leave my bookbag out in the open in the yard, but i have to be near it.

Well, my school has some pretty judgemental people in it, so I think it would depend more on your reputation and who you are.

No way. You can trust your friends, but that is about it.
I have had my backpack stolen twice, and once my cell phone was stolen from out of my trumpet case (thankfully the person was ignorant, my cell was worth $100, my trumpet is worth over $5,000).

public school. trust is nonexistent here. i can't even leave my pencil or eraser alone.

which is why every time i bring my cello to school i lock it in a room. i'm considered staff even though i'm a student, so i've got plenty of authority around. power is very good.

you can trust ppl most of the time to turn things into the lost and found and stuff like that... i accidentally left my CD player on the bench in the locker room when i was packing up my stuff and it was in the lost and found for months... lol i just realized it was there rolleyes.gif but then again some ppl get stuff stolen if they leave them out so... it depends on the ppl. most are trustworthy
