So, what'd y'all get on the new-fangled SAT? Are you retaking it? Were you bummed? And what was your essay score? mellow.gif

I got 2100 flat & I'm retaking in May. Uhm. Essay score was 10/12. Yeah, I'm a freak.

I was hoping to break 2200, so yeah, I'm bummed. What sort of cheers me up though, is the fact that the highest score I know of thus far is 2250. :\ AISHDFLAKNDEERaslijdhf cry.gif

I am taking mine in May, I am a little nervous. I really need to bring my math score up.

You still did pretty well Anna, what is the highest you can get now? *I am too lazy to do the math, hence my math score shall suck*

I'm old school and took the old school SAT. I pulled a 1310 and left it that. Looking back on it, I do wish I would've actually tried a bit harder. My parents wanted no less than a 1450. Parenst, pssh. tongue.gif

^ kjfdhalskjdfhla I'm not asking about the old SAT. Everyone's gotten something from 400-1600 on those things. This new SAT is unprecedented though. That's why I'm curious. stubborn.gif I don't like you. </3

2170.

and no, i'm not satisfied. stubborn.gif seriously. i'm taking them again.

but adding my SAT I (old ones) highest scores from december, I have a 2210. Uhm. Still not high enough for me.

my parents have rubbed off on me way too much.

my friend's sister who i consider really smart only got about 1700... and she's the only person who i know their results.

i'm obviously not old enough, though i did the best in my school on the psat (but that's not saying much... ermm.gif).

my sister is taking it next month i believe. i have a feeling she is going to completely bomb it, but i'm going to try to be optimistic about it from now on.

Numbers from one Saturday morning do not tell what kind of a person you are, or how smart you are.

I try to keep that in mind while I freak out.

*cries* okay! as mindy well atest (..that's the right word, no? maybe that's why i got a 690 in the verbal section) my school's average on the old SATs was ... 1490? Great, that means it'll be like 2250 this year. BAHHHHHH i wish I went to a hick school in .. Oklahoma where I stood out and was AWESOME.

and were supposedly such a good school. psssh

see, people should listen to me when i say that things are way to curriculum oriented and the gifted kids who could actually be smart dont learn that way

Are you kidding me? A 1700 is equivalent to a 1133 or something! pinch.gif A 1470 in the old SATs is really good. BUT, in the new SATs it's out of 2400. So I got 1700/2400. *sigh* I'm going to study like crazy for the next one.

Actually, I'm fine with my scores (tiny lie). It's just....when my parents get, you know, and people comparing their scores with each other at school..bah.

It's okay. I don't want to go to an ivy anyway. *Sulks*

But hey--something to consider? My friend said that there's no way colleges will look at SATs extremely carefully this year, being new and all. So maybe we can all hope for that!

That is exactly what I keep telling everyone! Schools aren't going to be able to judge what a "really extremely super good" score is quite yet and it wouldn't be fair to us poor kids.

Bringing this topic back (kind of), but there's only 107 2400's in the nation. Wow. So far at my school, I know of 2. -_- Damn smart people.

It said 107 in the washington post.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/artic...-2005Apr13.html

QUOTE
For 107 students, including six in Virginia, five in Maryland and three in the District, the news was great: They achieved a perfect 2400 on the exam. But other students were left with questions that even experts have no answer for.

640CR, 710W, 800M. i can't read-- must work on that; my parents aren't that stressed, since i'm only a sophomore. actually, they're not stressed at all because i only told them my math score. teehee :D

and yes, ariel, you talk to me way too much.. but don't stop.

Well I haven't taken the new one yet, but I probably will this year. I got a 990 on the first one..but I was in 7th grade. And I was satisfied, because I knew that was somewhere around the average 7th grade SAT score.

kristin: that's definitely higher than average; that's probably the average of the seventh graders who took that SAT.. and the seventh graders who actually took it are probably top 2-5% anyway.

yeah, i'm retaking the SAT in may-- all i'm hoping for is some evidence that i'm not completely braindead in critical reading. must practice.. and it's right before the AP Government test. NO TIME TO STUDY.

AHH mindy you almost beat my 2170, except i'm a junior. -__- i FOB face you. hahahahaha my math was a 710 so that was extremely bad for me. but my writing was a 770, the highest it's ever been!

i was overly confident about the writing (80 PSAT)-- the essay wasn't so bad for my first time: 10/12-- but i got a lot of multiple choice questions wrong. meh, i'll be more careful next time. just hope that i don't get overly confident on the math next time.

Haha smart, though I'd suggest taking the SAT II's for Math IIC early in junior year or at the end of sophomore year in June. It's just stuff up until precalc, and it's super easy!

....Okay this just in. 4 people at TJ got 2400's on the March SAT I. ROARR.

Your 1040 in 7th grade is a lot better than what some people get in 11th grade.

I didn't take them, but my two best friends (they are twins) got a 2400 and a 2380. They were on the front page of the newspaper and everything.

on the practice SAT's i took this year (my mom is a freak, i'm only 14) I got a 2040
