QUOTE
As you might guess, they are a little different than males condoms. The female condom is inserted into the vagina before sex. There is a soft ring that holds it in place and some of the condom is visable on the outside. Like male condoms, they are effective in preventing pregnancy and should be effecting in preventing most of the STDs.

Women either like them a lot because of the additional control over protecting her body or dislike them because of the increased cost and the method of insertion which involves touching the body.

Yeah , inside the vagina.

QUOTE
Diaphragms (pronounced 'dy-a-fram') and caps

Diaphragms are rubbery dish-shaped things to be inserted into the vagina. Caps are smaller versions.

They fit over the cervix (entrance to the womb) blocking sperm. You use a spermicidal cream or gel too. If you want one, see your GP or family planning clinic who’ll show you how to insert one, which you'll use every time you have sex.

92-96% effective.

^^ no. Using 2 condoms doesn't change a thing, its the same as using 1. And besides, what's the point in using 2? That's just stupid.

i'm pretty sure it won't. my health teacher mentioned it, and he said it would just rip and would be what 0% effective, not 180%.

they sell them in my school. in the girls bathroom, but i don't know if they're condoms or diaphragms. huh.gif but still freaky cause i've never seen any school bathroom in NY have that.

Theres other forms of contraception for a girl as well happy.gif

QUOTE
IUD (Inter-Uterine Device)
Also called a coil, this tiny plastic or copper device is inserted inside the womb. It stops eggs from sticking which prevents pregnancy. It can make periods heavier and more painful. It has to be inserted by a trained doctor. But once it is in, that’s it for 5 years - you don’t have to think about contraception every day.

Also a form of emergency contraception.
98% effective.

QUOTE
Contraceptive injections and implants
These work in a similar way to the progesterone-only pill. With the injection, the hormone progesterone is injected into a woman’s body and protects her from pregnancy for 8-12 weeks.

With implants, a tiny tube containing progesterone is placed under the skin of the woman’s arm, protecting her for three years.

Over 99% effective.

It would break , because the two condoms would rub together causing friction and also cauding the condom to rip open.

They're different to tampons. huh.gif

The diaphragm is inserted 'high' up inside ya covering the entrance to your womb. The penis doesn't go into the womb anyway during sex so it wouldn't change the whole way you have to have sex or anything _unsure.gif

i read somewhere that if a a guy uses a condom, the girl shouldn't use one and vice versa because the friction while the two are rubbing together can make holes and let the sperm through...same thing with a guy wearing two condoms wacko.gif doesn't double the protection like you think wink.gif

difficult?
bah, i dont even wanna think about it.

whts the point of using two? they are for the same purposes. if one is there there isnt really a nead for the other one. besides rubbing condoms together doesnt seem too smart.
and it wil prolly kill ya if it broke up there ><

Alright, I am going to put this up here and you can either profit by it, or have a laugh at my expense tongue.gif

First of all, a cervical cap or a diaphragm are totally different from the female condom (I'll just put FC after this). Neither of those protects against STDs while the FC does.

Next, here is a list of all the forms of contraception that I know of:
Quarterly shots (ie Depo-Provera)
Tubule inserts (good for five years)
IUD
birth control pills
male condom
Female condom
spermicide
sterilization
withdrawal
cervical cap/diaphragm

Lastly and the heart of the issue: all I know about the FC. I have tried one, so it's first hand, people.

The female condom costs about 3-5 dollars for one use, they are not reusable and they are usually made of latex, just like a male condom. You MUST read the instruction to insert it properly.

It is larger than a male condom. It basically looks like a cylindrical bag with a slightly larger, reinforced ring at one end and a smaller reinforced ring at the closed end. The rings look like a male condom does right after you take it out of the package and you see the sides all rolled up to make that fat 'O'. If I recall correctly, the box comes with a small amount of lubricant in case you need it to insert the FC more easily, but I could be mistaken on that one.

What you do is open the package the same way you open a male condom and remove the FC. You hold the 'O' of the closed end in your fingers, and pinch it, to make it look more like and '8', your thumb and index fingers should make kind of a pinched 'C' shape. You then insert this up inside your vagina as far as you can, trying to seat it around your cervix. The larger 'O' hangs down out of your body, so that it protects at least your inner labia and you should try to secure that end during intercourse so that the man's penis does not thrust between the wall of your vagina and the FC, rather than into that larger ring and then inside you.

My opinion: This thing is VERY difficult to put in properly. You may insert it several hours before intercourse and I suggest that you do if you're going to use the FC. Also, do not wait to learn how to use it properly until the day or night you want to have sex using the FC.

This thing looks very odd. So odd I was totally deterred from using it for sex. I tried the thing on, felt very uncomfortable with it, aesthetically, not physically, and took it out. However, it does not hurt.

I do not think it is a good product for most women. HOWEVER, I will say that I am the type of woman who feels that my sexual health is in MY control, not my partner's, and I have no problem carrying around a male condom. I would not leave that important issue up to someone else who may or may not have had the forethought to bring one, or two, hey, things break. While I am mentioning all this, some of you may have read one or more of my other posts and I don't want to give you the wrong impression, this isn't something I do now, but an experience from my past.

Anyway, hope you learned something. I sure did that day! Lol! blink.gif

-Oh yes, and you cannot use both a male condom and a female condom, that is addressed in the faqs in the instructions that come with the FC, the two condoms will either unseat each other or break, one or both.-
