So in eighth grade, which is next year, we'll be able to go to Costa Rica during spring break for 12 days. I heard people talking about it and it seemed like the freakingg most amazing thing, with rafting in rapids, hiking on volcanos, seeing waterfalls, swimming, everything. And my mom won't let me go when I asked her. -_- Her reason was like, she saw movies where the setting was costa rica and in the movie, they had all these drug dealers and 'bad people' in costa rica. So that's why I can't go .... Eurghhhh freaking stupidest reason. And she's so freaking stubborn so I don't see how I can convince her to let me.

hope thats good advice

Try to negociate with her NICELY. Be patient and calmly explain to her that Costa Rica isn't that bad. =]

Are you going with your school? If you are you can maybe get around her by telling that you'll always be safe because you will be with an adult at all times and with all your friends. Explain to her that you do not do drugs and she knows that and it's not like the drug dealers are going to come up to a class and their teacher. Tell her you want to be able to experience a different way of life and you would love to do this. It means a lot to you. You could also say that your friends are going and their moms let them go so if she wanted she could talk it over with another mom and maybe they can convince her it's alright and a good experience for you.

i hope you are able to go. it sounds awesome.

woahhhhhh i went through that EXACT SAME THING in the eighth grade!
Our eighth grade class was going to take a trip to the entire east coast of the USA (we live in california). We were going to soo many cool places, going to watch a broadway show, times square, buffets, and hours of shopping. of course, i wanted to go really bad and of course, my mom didn't let me. At the end, I got so mad, I taped "PLEASE LET ME GO!!!!!!!" signs all over the house. (yeah, i was immature). I told her that I would try harder in school, blahblahblah all these other expectations, and I payed $60 for it too (I didn't get allowance). I was desperate, and it was my last year with my friends cuz next year, i was supposed to go to a new school. (which is where I am right now -.-)

Haha, she let me. :)

hm .... do your chores w/ out being asked and make sure she see you doing it .. after you're done. Try to act like you're dam tired and exhausted .. ( you must be sarcastic too ! ) .. then persuade your mom and tell her that you're not going alone, you're just going to have fun experiencing in a faraway place w/ your friends. If she doesnt let you, go to your bedroom and cry before dinner time starts. she'll go up stair and tell you to eat dinner but instead she might feel " sorry " for you .. ? .. if that doesnt work out .. post a sign said " PLEASE MOTHER, LET ME GO !! " on YOUR door .. if that doesnt help you .. do your homework on the next day and she has to see you doing it .. maybe help out setting up the dinner stuff .. ? tell her, you're going to pay for it ..... ? or .. said you're that stupid to buy drugs be violient .. you're just going to be arround w/ ur friends .. and tell her you know much better and you're 13 years old .. ..

[ my ideas are out of order ]

make sure you dont yell. acknowledge the points that she makes. after that, tell ehr that your school wouldnt be taking you there if it was an unsafe venue.

We are going to france this month, we always go to france, im tired of going to france, in our school its either france, the netherlands or Italy! Last year my sister went to Barcelona, i wanna go there, but noo never. Either france or the netherlands or Italy. Grr, other schools are going to Egypt or Turkey. stubborn.gif

Anyways, just convince your mom that you are mature and you can take care of yourself, come on, just make something up.

My mom always let me go.

There are going to be chaperones right?? Well, have her talk to one of them. They will convince her that you, and others, will be supervised, and kept out of trouble.

Maybe then she'll realze that you'll be safe. Dont' scream at her. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T DO THAT! Be nice. Be rational. Talk to her in a nice, convincing way.

Tell her that if it was so dangerous; then your teachers wouldnt be choosing to go there for a trip. Plus; you will be under supervision. And plus; it's just a movie
