Why do people, spell things weirdly?

I am just wondering, not meaning to insult people. im just curious, because I'm totally guilty of it. But why do people spell

girl-gurl?
because-becuz?
you-yew?
boys-boiz?
the-tha?
laters(lol)-l8terz

etc.

just wondering, since most of the time it takes most of the time to write it the other way.. tongue.gif lol biggrin.gif Any ideas? lol

LoL, I remember when I used to type like that... I think I did because I thought it looked cool & everyone else I knew was typing like that too. Now I think it looks stupid, and I flinch whenever I read some of my past xanga entries with weird spellings... haha.

Because it's also internet slang. Personally I think it's rather annoying. You might as well type with correct spelling and grammar because you'll need to get in THAT habit rather than getting in the habit of typing lyke diz.

"Gurl" was used in screennames because "girl" was taken. And I can understand "becuz" with "because" because it's easier to use. And it actually shortens the weird. The other stuff.. I don't get.

yeah that annoys me, when it is supposed to look cool and *unique* but I can't ever figure out what they are saying cause it's spelled totally different from the real word. blink.gif I'm a little slow biggrin.gif wink.gif
