being the first with new technology is often not a smart thing. many teams the original release is filled with bugs and mistakes that need to be fixed. wait a month to three months.

dont you hate it cause japan has so many options like different colors designs.. i got the gamecube the first day and i get teh gamecube magazine and show pics from japan and they show the gamecube in like 7 different colors.

so i might buy the ds or psp when it gets cheaper... who knows maybe a different design? cause nintendo came out with another different designs for the gameboy advanced.

there's a reason for the lack of different designs. hardware launches require heavy logistics in order to ship enough units for launch day. therefore, in order to streamline production, usually only one color of the console is produced.

the DS was supposed to come out in three colors, but nintendo wanted to speed up production for the US launch and made only the silver DS. the black DS looks really cool though.

Yea my boyfriend got his today. He told me that the good thing about getting a PSP during the first shipment is that it's "actually MADE IN JAPAN" versus being made in China. He said something about how after the first (few) shipment(s), they start making it in China or something because it's cheaper or something. It happened to the GBA SP.

that has nothing to do with what we're talking about.

The PSP probably costs more than $300 to make. Sony is selling the value pack for $250. They are losing $50 with each sale! Sony wants to make back the money they lose in software sales, which are $50 rather than the $30 Nintendo is asking for DS/GBA software.

Yes, price will go down with time, but not in the near future.

Unless of course, Nintendo releases their successor to the GBA (The DS is not a gameboy remember) and Sony has no choice.

Just thought i would shoot you guys some feedback on the PSP sales in my area. I'm a retail manager at a Target in the Denver Metro Area. We do the 3rd most business in the state of Colorado for target stores. We received 40 PSP's for the launch and we only sold 10 at yesterday.

I work retail, and our store received 60 PSP's and sold 10 the entire day. Outside of hardcore gaming stores, I was curious to find out if that was just an anomaly, or the standard. I actually had many people come up and talk to me about it, but balked at the price of $249.99.

Looks like people are a bit reluctant to spend $250 on the PSP.

Honestly, I can't really stand the PSP. I perfer to have the DS. The DS have more revolutions to hand held gaming such as dual screens and wireless multiplayer. The PSP has a mysterious battery life, and I heard it dropped to $200. Not sure the cost reduction is true though.

Two weeks after the PSP was launched there are still consoles on the shelves. You couldnt say that for the DS two DAYS after launch.

The Nintendo DS, although I know Im getting off topic but I must, is an inovative incredible machine. When used to its fullest extent, the games will be amazing. Already we have great games going like Super Mario 64, Feel the Magic, Wario Ware, etc etc. RayMan has come, and various other games are on the way.

Oh, and the Nintendo 64 was not mediocre. Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and Smash Bros. can MAKE a system, and those three are great games. Sure, it lost sales to the PS1, although if you consider that mediocre, than the Dreamcast was mediocre, which it was not by far.

i got a psp today! Whoot whooott. I was hook after seeing my boyfriend brother having one. There was no waiting list or nothing for me. Paid $250 for it. If anyone want, since you guy talk about on hold. There bunch around my town. Where i bought mine, there was like 100 left. But since am girlie and all, i don't know how long this psp will stay with me hahah.
