theres sooooo many good concerts coming up soon. some not quite my taste, but id be willing to go since my friends like them

-kings of leon (sold out already. my friends are pisssed)
-hot hot heat, louis XIV
-snow patrol (i should be going to this one)
-the killers (well, theyll be at music midtown with lots of other bands. hopefully ill be going)

edit:// oh, i just noticed that these bands are coming too:
-muse, razorlight
-moby
-garbage
-collective soul (who im not interested in, but theyre playing with the atlanta symphony orchestra and atlanta symphony youth orchestra, which some of my friends are in, so hopefully i can go to that)
-interpol
and of course lots of other bands that im even less interested in.

so, not my favorites, but still, good enough music. whos coming near you?

Museeee! nice.
For some reason, a lot of the bands that are touring around the US aren't setting any dates up in New York City! What's up with that? It's only one of the biggest cities in the US.... Geez... _dry.gif

no one comes here. a lot of groups go to san francisco, but that's three hours away and no one ever wants to take me. the only concert i'm planning on is when birght eyes comes back for the digital ash part of his touring, but that probably won't be until summerish.

The Snake The Cross the Crown
04/15 Courtyard Cafe, Urbana, IL
04/16 Schuba's Chicago, IL

Mae
4/17 - Chicago, IL
w/ Armor for Sleep and The Suicide Pact

The Get Up Kids
Not entire sure of the date yet, but it's their last show.
Driving to way out west so my boyfriend can go to it.

Mae, This Day and Age, Hidden in plain view, Waking Ashland
I haven't seen that tour before (at least those bands).
When is that show? Because Mae's going to be touring with The Starting Line in April (lksdjfl;kajsdf EW!) and they haven't really released any tourdates past their east coast tour with them.

Way too many bands! Haha, I don't know, but sometimes I like shows to have 3 bands, at the most, or else the show starts to get really boring (especially if you're anticipating one main band) and you get tired of standing around dehydrated.

My Former Self is decently decent. heh

Yeah, no kidding. I never get dehydrated at shows though, I just get tired of tapping my foot against the floor and nodding my head like an idiot. Oh, and it is quite amusing to watch people headbang to lo-fi indie for 4 hours. stubborn.gif

I`m mainly going just to see Jupiter Sunrise and Never Heard of It... Even though I hear the boys of NHOI are real jerks. Whatever.

Are you going to any of the Snake the Cross the Crown shows? Heh, make them play "the Contortionist"; SCC said that they rarely play that song at shows. Even so, us San Jose folks are masters at persuasion and the band easily gave in after 4 minutes of us pestering them.

Well, normallly bands go by their setlist.. Chances are if they play a song people beg for, it's on their playlist. I've heard the contortionist live a few times ;) Not sure if you were replying to me, but the ones I'll be seeing:

04/15 Courtyard Cafe, Urbana, IL
04/16 Schuba's Chicago, IL

And if they happen to play new Louisville, KY or Memphis, I'm at those shows as well :P

stanleythepanda, I didn't recognize the other bands playing because for a few dates their touring with Waking Ashland, Further Seems Forever, Me Without You, and then it changes to the bands that are on your show. THat's why I didn't think it was going to be soon ;)

Heh. Both of these bands turned out to be reeeeaaallly nice. Aaron of JS gave me a free hat, and I bought some pins and band shirts from them. NHOI gave my friend a drumstick, and we got to park their tour bus thing. blink.gif

...those are indie bands?

we're going to seattle for spring break, so last night i was going to a bunch of band's websites so i could go to a show when i was there, and when i was looking at pedro the lion's tour dates i saw one there around the time i thought we were going to be there, so i got REALLY excited and such and started to tell everyone about it, just to have my mom inform we it's 3 days before we go. i was disappointed to say the least.

...now watch me go to none of them. i have one friend who kind of wants to go to the decemberists, to see appleseed cast i would have to tag along unwanted with that a-hole, and im not all that interested in mars volta. but maybe something will work out...

The Mars Volta is f**king amazing. Don't miss that show.
Or The Appleseed Cast.
Seriously.

^ i'm assuming that was last part was directed towards me. in my defense, i thought indie was usually a term given to artists who are signed on indepedent labels... i don't really think of it as a genre, persay. and i didn't think most of those artists were on independent labels so... yeah. those bands just seemed completely out of place. but whatever.

i'm trying to get tickets to coachella, but yet again i have no ride.

HAHA, wasn't directed towards you, dear. More like everyone in general.
Sabrina just said that ("I'm tired of music constantly having to be filed as this or that. If you like it, wonderful. If you don't, wonderful. That's all you need to know. Share it with people, but if they don't like it, who gives a f***") and I really liked it but didn't want to make a thread out of it.
In fact, that's what I'll be saying when the situation fits from now on.

My sister got tickets to that show (The Killers). Of course she didn't bother to get me one.

I heard Louis XIV is pretty good live.
And my friend met the lead singer and she said he's really nice.

haha, well with the placing of it right after my post telling that girl that those weren't really indie bands... i just thought it was an attack on me "filing" bands into a particulary genre. my mistake.

...and i still haven't found any shows in seattle or a ride to take me to see the good life.

yeah Louis XIV is really good live. I saw them when they came during the summer for street scene. Two of my friends met the lead singer that day too. They said he's nice, and he was just walking around.

Bwahahaha.
*revives an old topic*

I'm seeing Slipknot, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, and Dillinger Escape Plan on Sunday, April 24th.
Then I'm seeing Lamb of God again on April 25th, I hope...If my parents let me anyway. ><

I might possibly go to Ozzfest this year. Damn, I hope.

Nothing ever comes to KC. Ever.

I'm going to try and go to Pointfest in STL to see Life of Agony, Mudvayne, American Head Charge, Bloodsimple, Breaking Benjamin and bunch of other bands.

I'm planning on going to Sounds of the Underground in STL so that I can see Lamb of God, Devildriver, and bunch of other bands.

I'm also currently plotting a way to get to Chicago so that I can go see Iron Maiden.

Maybe if I were into a different type of music KC would be a better place to be for concerts.

Ah, well...
Maybe next year?

I'm going to see Modest Mouse on June first. We hardly get any concerts in my town, so when I can, I never pass them up. Besides, concerts are always fun if you can stand the music, which I can. I used to like Modest Mouse quite a bit a while back... So it shall be fun. I'd also like to experience a concert that isn't metal... Just to get the feel of other concerts, you know? Since I've only experienced one concert and it was metal, it'd be nice to experienece something else.

too bad dillinger escape plan can't write a damn good song besides setting fire to sleeping giants. they are good players and have crazy ideas that you think would work well but it just doesn't.

and do i really have to go into how much otep sucks? neither one i would consider true metal. but from what bands you guys talk about i could have figured that out right away.

green day?..

anyway, bands that no one has mentioned yet. this is what im planning on seeing:

July 4-Robert Plant (lead singer of Led Zeppelin) with the Strange Sensations
August 5- Gigantour: Nevermore, Dream Theater, Megadeth, Symphony-X, Fear Factory (bleh..), DEP(bleh again..), more bands to come.
September 17-Progpower 2005: Stratovarius, Therion, Angra, Orphaned Land
October-U2

nice mix of classic rock, metal, progressive rock/metal, and good pop(U2)

I like what I like and I don't think I need to be criticised by you or anyone else. I love Dilllinger Escape Plan. I love Otep. I like Green Day. My mom wants to go see Green Day, and she asked me if I wanted to come. Why the f**k would I pass up a concert? Even if I don't like them that much, I'd still go for a good time. Jesus Christ. You don't have to go around acting all elite because you think your tastes and your concerts own everyone else's tastes and concerts. We all like what we like and just because you're seeing Robert Plant doesn't mean you're better than us. I'd go if I could, but I can only go to so many out-of-state concerts. Think what you want about what is 'truly metal,' but personally... I don't care. I like what I like and I know what I know.

Anyway, enough of that... I found out that I'm most likely going to The Sounds of the Underground Tour. Also, I think I successfully talked my parents into letting me see the Blood Brothers this month. Hell yeah.

Yeah, it looks so awesome.
I'm in the same situation. It's in the next state over, so it's about 4 to 4 1/2 hours away as well.
Bah, I shouldn't be so optimistic about it.. I can only go to so many out of state concerts a year. :P

Like I went to one last night, it was the Venues Birthday Bash or something like that, and theres were like 11 bands but I only watched 3 1/2.
Called To Arms was the band I watched the full set of and they were awesome!
And then I watched Alesana and some band that won 2nd place in the "battle of the bands for ozzfest" or something like that and they were pretty good.

Mmmmm shows are great. happy.gif
