haha oops.. I meant concerned....

Well today my friend and I went to my locker to get some papers right before lunch, and my friend noticed a paper that someone stuck at the top of my locker. It says on the outside "Anonymous- I'll be in touch" then when you open it up, it says in big capital letters:

SEVEN DAYS

NICOLE ***-**-****
LOPEZ ~~~-~~~~

The * signs is where they had my actual full social security number, and then the ~ is where they had put my phone number. So this means they know my name, locker number, locker combination, phone number, and social security number. If they have all of that, I'm sure they have my address too. It's not that I'm scared, I'm just a little concerned at the fact that they have my social. I mean, you can get access to a lot of information with that, What should I do? SHould I report it? Or just see what happens in "Seven days"? haha

Hmm... I don't know, even if you do report it, like they'll still have it an all... I doubt they can do much with it, or rather will do much with it. Wait and see what happens _smile.gif

I would definently take notice about it... Tell your parents, your school principal, secturity about it... IT may be something small, and it may be something big, but the kind of details they have can really do alot of damage to you and your identity. The last thing you want is to be ripped off, so tell someone. If its nothing then its just Nothing, but if its something, well then alot of things can go wrong for there... Just be safe about it

REPORT IT TO THE POLICE. I'm surprised your parent's haven't done that yet. People can ruin your identity for life. When you have someone soc. number, you can do ANYTHING. like, use credit cards, where you live, etc. if someone ruins your credit line, that could effect you getting a house or car later in life. Take this as serious as it is, please.

^ it's a good point, and i told my mom, and she said she was going to call the school and police. But I'm not sure if it's a silly joke. The more I think about it, the more concerned i get. But then I feel stupid for panicking over this... eek i dunno..

Do you have any brothers/sisters that are in the same school as you?

I think the only thing that's weird about the entire situation is your SSN being on that piece of paper. You should definitely make your parents aware of this situation, and speak with either a Dean/Principal/Guidance Counselor.

It may honestly be nothing, but if someone went through the trouble of finding your information, it could be a bit serious. Or not, you never know, but definitely mention this. Don't let it go unknown.

And as someone else stated, your SSN can be used for numerous reasons (she listed some), and can be used for a false identification and whatnot. Take precaution at school and whatnot, and make sure you don't leave your belongings behind.

By the way, you don't carry your SSN card in a purse at school, do you?
If so, maybe you lost that card. Never keep a SSN card on you, have your parents put it with their other important documents, etc.

as you can see, it's sloppy handwriting, (yes i took pictures because I'm a weirdo)so they can't be older or anything, and it was carelessly written (notice the ripped out noteboook paper) but what can they do? I mean is there a point in telling them? Today, I'll bring the note to the principal's attention just to see what he thinks..

You should tell your counselors or your staffs that you can trust. Even though it feels like a prank or a joke... just in case, you should maybe tell? I don't recall that as a teller-teller. The note sounded like a threatening thing. Because they knew your social security number. Wouldn't that freak you out big time?

I think you should report this to your parents or a school administrator. To be secure, whether they know your address or not, lock your doors and windows on the seventh day. Don't get out of your house without somebody. This will ensure your safety, if they are trying to harm or abuse you.

You should definitely report it, you never know what could happen. You'd rather be safe, then sorry.

I think I have an idea of wo it might be.. some guy who used to like me. I got out one of the notes he wrote me, and the handwriting is very similar. The counselor wasn't much help... _dry.gif but no new notes, so maybe it was a prank. I feel foolish rolleyes.gif

You honestly shouldn't take it so lightly, and as a joke. It's better to be safe then to be sorry. If your counselor didn't have anything to say about, confront a teacher, and ask them for advice, they might be able to do a little more then your careless counselor.

And honestly, you never know about handwriting. People try hard to alter it, or change it to look like somebody elses (forging); just because it looks like someone else's handwriting, does not mean it is their's.

Do something about it and stop taking it as a joke.
Even if you do feel like an a-hole in the end, who cares.

You should definitely report it to someone. You need to have someone to watch out for you, just in case your "secret admirer" turns out to be a psycho! Watch out for yourself, hun!
