my gut reaction: yes!! think about it...you get to forget death, pain, sadness, it would just be so much easier to live on lik ethat

but now i guess memories are worth to keep. it doesnt matter if they're bad memories or not, im sure that along with those memories, there were a lot of good ones too. besides, the more bad experiences you go through, the more you'll be able to enjoy good future experiences. happy.gif

A lot.... actually all of them I would love anything more but to erase them. After thinking about it, all the bad memories I have... that huge bank I have deposited full of bad memories, I honestly know that they have shaped me into this person that I am today. I think without some of those memories I would be less of a person I am and still that little 7 year old kid I was before.. I've gone through some Major Shit but losing all those memories... its like losing the person that you have become.

Not EVERY bad memory.. maybe most of the bad memories. There's a selected few that help me realize my mistake(s) and grow/learn from it. I mean, if I was perfect and never did anything wrong, life would be boring. Although sometimes I wish things didn't happen, I'm glad that some did because I wouldn't have what I have right now if it weren't for those selected few bad memories... :]

the bad memories are there to helpyou remember the good memories.

so no, i wouldn't. just has how a utopia would drive one insane, wiping your bad memories would make the good memories go away.

Im tempted so badly to say yes... but honestly, no. If i hadnt had my bad memories... then those experiences wouldnt be able to help me get stronger when the future comes. it hurts... some memories... but they shouldnt be forgotten, because the people that were hurt/killed (if that happens to be your bad memory) dont deserve to be forgotten, regardless of how it makes one feel.

the idea seems tempting but in reality, all your experiences make you the person you are today, whether those experiences were bad or good. besides, you learn from you mistakes, every embarrassing moment, every breakup, etc. etc.

this reminds me of what momiji said in furuba... that he was happy for his bad memories and that he was glad to have them because he mother was there even though she hate him... ill find it and post it later

QUOTE
But you know, there's something I believe. I want to try and live my life carrying all of my memories with me. And even if those memories are painful, even if they do nothing but hurt me, I want to keep them. Even those memories I wish I sometimes could forget. As long as I can keep carying them with me...as long as I can keep holding on...then someday, someday... I'll be strong enough that those memories don't hurt me anymore, and I'll be glad that I have them. That's what I believe. With all my heart. That's why all my memories are precious to me. I don't think it would be okay to forget a single one. And that's why, the truth is, I didn't really want mama to forget about me. I did. What I wanted was for her to hold on. But I guess that was selfish of me

Bad memories? No. If you had to go through all of that "bad stuff," and end up not even remembering it...that would really suck.

Bad memories make you realize that it is over.

Bad memories make you stronger.

No.

Even though it is painful, it really does help you grow as a person. A lot in your life would be different if you didn't remember the shitty times.

For me, that moment was when my plane took off from Arizona to move to Mass. I sometimes wished to just forget all the hut I was feeling that day and all my friends that I had to leave. Altho it would spare me a lot of pain and tears, it really helped me grow.

I wouldn't because I have learned a lot from things that have happened to me, good and bad. I think we would be rather naive if we didn't have bad memories, we would have no sense of reality.

The obvious choice is to erase it.
But then. Without the bad memories, how could we even tell if a memory is good? And bad memories is what made you.

Vampire Duster-Is there a certain reason you keep bringing back topics for pretty much pointless replies?

Anyways, have any of you seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?! Watch it and THEN reply saying you want to erase your bad memories...You won't want to.

Hell no. They make me as strong as I am today. I have wished it before but now I relize that those really help me through things. I mean, there are things I wish didn't happen. But I don't want to forget them.

i've actually been perfected erasing my emberrassing/bad memories to he point where when i start to think about them and get sad i get dizzy and just forget what i was thinking about. It takes a while though lmao, you have to just clear your head shake around a little bit when you start thinking about things like that <3

it would be really nice if we could keep those lessons learned from mistakes, the ones that help ups grow, but erase the memory itself. only keep the realizations. but then that wud be kina trippy, i mean knowing you realized something but then not remembering where it came from..?

No, then you wouldn't learn from your mistakes. Then everybody would be happy and that's not good. How are you ever gonna get stronger (mentally) if you never look back on memories?

I would erase the loss of close ones and friends. I would change the past, like the things that i did wrong. But what people said to me, the judging, cussing the bitching and dissing. I'd keep it, they made me stronger, like everyone else said. Without these people, i wouldn't know some things about myself...so, I wouldn't really change alot.
