Are there real opposites in the world?

Is the opposite of hot = cold? Some people say cold is only a word describing the lack of heat. Same as dark/bright. Is the opposite of bright = dark? Dark only seems to be a word describing the lack of light.

So what do you think?

I hope everyone says that, not just some, because it is a fact according to the laws of physics.

Erm... as for opposites... I don't know... maybe good and evil?

well its all sematics and interpretation, and if you look at the connotation or denotation of the word(s)....

but theres also some things like "is life the opposite of death?" or "is death merely the absence of life" or "is death the same thing as life because there is an afterlife"? im confused too....i guess it just depends on your own interpretation

Interpretations - meanings
People are very different within the world, and all have something different than someone else. So, those seem quite close, but if you look at it in the angle that this is going in, it seems relevant.

As- An interpretation is a gesture or a thought of what a meaning might be. A meaning is what it is, written in stone.

You can mold interpretations to anything, you can't change meanings, really.
