ok i didnt know where to put this topic under :(
anyway.. here's the deal.. my boyfriend was gona come here in april to visit me again (we're in a long distant relationship - 2years). we visit each other every 2-3months.. i live in Jordan (Middle East) and he lives in the Philippines (my Home Country). I have no school from March 25th til the month of June which is when my exams are. In the Philippines in April: +My boyfriend is graduating +My boyfriend has a tournament going on in April that i wanna be there for to support +My friends are graduating and leaving for college abroad so it may be the last time i ever see them after a really long time +They're all planning to go to Boracay (Beautiful beach in Philippines) for a graduating celebration, last time to see each other and all So yeah ALOT is going on in April and i dont wanna miss out on alot of those things =( and i want my boyfriend to stay in Philippines to be able to spend quality time with his friends instead of coming here. Also i miss my friends so much, and i need a break to get out of Jordan cuz i really hate it here and i barely go out.. Thing is.. i need my Dad's permission and i need him to pay for most of my ticket.. i'm willing to have him use my allowance, i don't care as long as i can go in april im so desperate =( I don't have a very close relationship with my dad and i barely ask him for anything, we never really talk, i dont know him really =/ Ticket should cost around $500-800.. I've been getting really good grades and its a MAJOR improvement from how i've been doing last year so maybe i could use that somehow? How should i start the conversation and end up asking him this permission? any other suggestions on what i can say to really convince him to let me go? what would u do if u were in the same situation? have any of you actually been through somethin like this n got ur parent to let you? anything! i'm so desperate to go please help =( ps. (check below for replies by me to see updates!) |

hmm start off the convo with something like "Dad... I haven't been asking for much from you, and Ive gotten really good grades and everything... so can you help pay for a ticket for me to go to the Philippines, you can take the money from my allowance" ect ect.

Tell your dad the situation and work out a compromise.

^ Yes, it's hard to realize that he loves you, it's just that he can't seem to strike up a normal conversation with you.
If I were you, I'd start off with "Hey Dad, I've been getting real good grades lately, and I don't usually ask much from you. You know how important friends and your love life are, right? (and possibly give an example from his life) Well, I can't seem to settle in here, and I really miss everyone back in the Phillipines.." Then, if he says no, then tell him you'll use your own allowance money for the ticket. Just in case he agrees to pay for you. You want to save as much money as you can Try to start out acting like you know he'll let you. Then increase the level of desperate-ness. In the end it's bound to work. hehe |
