Dude! I go to Davis! Small world...actually not so small (graduating class of 600 something, 100 something attending UCD). Well, for roommie advice I'd say go with your friend if you two click. Go with a stranger if you want to take that risk. I went with someone I know and we get along great, probably because we are so similar. But anyway, yah, whatever you decide, you can always request a room change later in the quarter anyway. Yeah...but I must say, of your other choices, to have picked Davis...your other choices must've not been good. Davis is sooo boring. O_O I miss the hustle and bustle of a major city. And I don't like the weather, it's too hot. Nosebleed hot, if I might say so. And god, were they not kidding about the cows. If the wind drifts just about right, it's almost as if someone shoved a cow right up your nostrils. But if this is your choice, I guess you can find some good points...I haven't myself. Tell me if you find any. 3:() ~Moo

haha actually i chose davis over UC San diego and UC Santa barbara because of the location--closer to my home. i am very close to my family, so i didnt wanna go like 6-10 hours away when davis is only like 2. i know it smells, and its boring as all heck but i need to go somewhere slow paced because i am just tired lol

and the only reason i dun wanna roomwith a friend is cuz i am scared i might get annoyed after a while and then we might not be as close.

I think it would be best to room with a friend of yours.

i am in my first year of college now. last semester and the beginning of this semester, i had a roommate that i was assigned with. me and her were total strangers. it was just weird living with someone for quite some time and not even knowing that person. we hardly talked at all. i guess our personalities didn't click. i would have thought that i would atleast be friends with my roommate when i went to college. we didn't fight, but still i didn't like rooming with her. when she wasn't in class or eating, she was always there. there was times, when i didn't want to go back to my room cause i knew she would be there. yes, it was her room too, but she never went out and did things with her friends. i felt that i had no privacy and was uncomfortable. so i moved out and into a single room this semester. i don't like the idea of sharing such a small space with someone, and especially if you don't even know the person. and also, in one of my friend's situation, her roommate brought her boyfriend in when my friend was sleeping, and started having sex with her boyfriend. my friend woke up and heard them, but pretended that she was sleeping.

both rooming with a friend and rooming with a new person have their pluses and minuses. me and my friend this year were talking about rooming together next year, but i deceided i don't want to. i get irritated real easy and i feel that i might start to not like my friend anymore if i deceided to live with her. even though next year, i could be assigned with a roommate that i am more compatible with, i much rather have my own space so i'm going for a single room. i gotta to work full time this summer to help pay for it.

if you decide to room with one of your friends or someone new, communication is a good key. and you can always change rooms once your there and you feel that it isn't going to work out.

sometimes the strangers you room with might end up being super close friends... biggrin.gif if you decide to room with one of your friends, make sure that you can handle it. i've seen it happen that best friends have become mortal enemies. yikes. something that might work out: sign up for a new roomie, but see if you and your friends can be on the same floor, or at least in the same dorm. best of both worlds.

I say room with your friends.
I mean, yeah rooming with total strangers would be cool if you guys click, but when it doesn't ( eg bluecrystal ) it'd suck.

that is so true,... when i spend more time with close friends, like outside of school, which is like 10 hours, they become anoying and u kinda become distance from them. i notice that if u juss stay a little aloof from your friends its more refreshing. juss my opinion.. whistling.gif and go with the stanger!... experience the college life with a new person.. and u might spark something.. wink.gif
