so we're starting to pick out our classes for next year, but so for some stupid reason the school decided to have this wierd 7 period schedule next year, where you still have 6 classes, but you have another extra period that you rotate, so that you will have one class twice in a day. (for example, monday= first period twice, tuesday second, etc) its the most retarded thing ever. however, it may come in hany, because IB kids may be allowed to take a 7th period so they can take theory of knowlage, which is supposed to be a great class, so i may be able to do that, but as im only doing certificate rather than full diploma, i may not. very annoying. so as of now, my schedule next year will probably include

honors physics
honors pre-cal (?)
AP US history
AP/IB composision or liturature
symphonic band
honors spanish 3
theory of knowledge

however, if i cant take the 7th period i dont know whether to drop spanish (because i hate it anyway, but its better to take 3 years) or not take TOK (good class, but hard class)

so...have you started your schdules for next year? what are you going to take?

haha gow weird! We went to homeroom today to schedule our classes for next year also, but then they decided that we'd plan out what we plan to take for the rest of high school, which I really hadn't thought about... I want to take spanish, Foods II, Pre Calculus, JROTC III, and well they schedule in our classes we must take... not sure what else I'm going to take yet.

Oh wow. That sounds so confusing. blink.gif I was sad because I wanted to take visual basics I and II and Newspaper, but my Honors Chemistry class got in the way. I took graphic arts and driver's ed instead (hehe that rhymed). This is what I have:
- Academic Physics (the class lower than honors because I heard it was uber-hard)
- AP U.S. History
- Honors Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus
- Honors English III
- Newspaper (*crossing fingers*)
- Theatre Arts II
- Latin II
- French III
- Lab gym (yeah, it's weird...I have to take this because I'm taking acadmic physics; it's a double period that integrates a science lab one day of the week with study hall and gym the entire year. I wish I didn't have to...ehh...)

-hon. english II
-hon. trig
-history
-French IV (maybe, if i work hard enough in the summer)
-symphonic band

Well, my school has stupid stuff like that. Like, We have modified block
Monday, Tuesday, and Friday we have a normal 8 period day.....
On Wed, we have odd classes, and our "club period"
On Thurs we have even classes, and for first period we have "extra help" which is kinda like your 7th period, but we only have it once a week. THANK GOD! lol

yeah, its for the whole school, except that you dont have the option of the 7th class

we didnt have the ap option freshmen year, but gifted wasnt that bad
well, im bad at science, so i took honors and found it hard, but if i studied i may have been okay
i found geometry a lot easier than algebra
i have the pre ib world history class right now, except not technically pre ib, and its remarkably easy, you just have to do the work
youre lucky- ms parris is retiring so you wont have to put up with her for spanish

oh, but the gifted geometry teacher is typically nueman, who everyone loathes

That's kind of odd. But yeah TOK is really fun. Well to me it is. I like the class. But it is a lot of work because it requires a lot of patience and such. Anyways my schedule goes as follows; it's not exactly concrete but these are the classes I'm hoping to take:
-AP/IB Biology HL
-AP/IB Calculus
-AP/IB Contemporary World History (I think that's what it's called)
-IB English 12
-IB Business Management HL
-French 1 or Japanese 1 (because I finished Spanish this year)
-*Theory of Knowledge
-*Extended Essay
-*CAS
* Required IB classes. However, extended essay and CAS are not officially classes but still require homework and such, so yeah...
Oh, and I might add some EPIC classes like Student Government and stuff but I need to speak with my counselor first to make sure I get all my required classes out of the way since I'll be a senior.

from u schedule ui supect ur a junior or a senior
that sux how period change the last year of high school
it happen to me from 4 class a day per semester to 6th class the whole year(2semester) which mean that the old schedual i can earn 32 credit and this new schedule the max is 24. THAT really sux and the sixth period a day decrese luch time by 20min.

i would rather have 7th period a day then 6th, i'm a school lover!

What the f**k, Nicki? This is horrible sad.gif first period twice? TWICE? this'll be horrible.

Oh. you know what's funny? Kristin told me that that form that we got last week were just teacher recommendations. So technically I still have a chance to get into IB. so maybe i don't have to take a period twice? bleh. confused.

no, you definitely have to take periods twice, but its not just one period. itll be like this: youll have an open period in the middle of the day which will be filled as

monday: 1st
tues: 2nd
wed: 3rd
thrus: 4th
fri: 5th
mon: 6
tues: 1st
etc

its good that theyre only recommendations! you dont want to be stucki in any cp classes

hmm that is odd but we're going to start doing our classes for next year soon i think, we haven't started just yet. i'm almost done picking my classes...there are a few undecided as of now.
for sure i'm taking:
english 12
info tech 12
ap calculus 12
yearbook 12
spare block
choir 12

my other three blocks are undecided. i'm going to take either:
social justice 12 or christian ed. 12 (i go to a catholic school.)
physics 12 or chemistry 12
and my last block is undecided but they may be introducing a media arts course next year...if it is offered thats what i'm taking.

yay, i'm an IBer, also.
schedule for junior year:

IB Physix I (ew)
IB Math HL (ew)
IB History of the Americas
IB English I
IB French I
IB Social Anthropology (yay!)
Theory of Knowledge (woot!)

I LOVE YOU, SOCIAL SCIENCE.
you know, it's weird. i'm actually looking forward to the IB extended essay... it's giving me the opportunity to do in-depth research about something i'm actually interested in. i can definitely appreciate this attempt to spark intellectual curiosity. what are you planning to write yours on? i'm probably going to do something with sociology... maybe the effect of marxism on society?

yeah, parris was evil, but with her gone itll be fine. even if spanish is a horifically annoying language.
yeah, i had mr glenn for geography last year, and it was a complete waste of time, no matter how many ways he says its useful. i shouldve just done ib, but i was scared. it was dumb- rogers is so easy. the ideal is to take world history freshman year then only do diploma so you dont have to take any social studies senior year, like you said.

Yeah, I guess it's basically an international honor program however it requires more work and prerequisites to graduate than most programs such as community service, extended essay, theory of knowledge, etc.

Errr, our school is always making changes in schedules also. We went from block schedule to all 7/8 classes a day. And to answer your question...

Probably the following
AP Chinese 4
AP Economics
AP English 4
Physics
PreAP Pre-Cal
Journalism B

and some others...iono. I don't know what classes I want to take yet, but those are the main ones..

I have no idea how my schedule will look like next year..the only thing I know is that I have four block classes every day and there are two days of the schedule..8 classes.
The classes that I'm taking this year:
1.) Algebra 2
2.) I.S.
3.) Spanish I
4.) World History
5.) Biology
6.) English.
The fact that they're honors classes at least? Definately.
My electives are World Religion and Drivers Ed.

That's wierd.. blink.gif I think you should go for spanish 3. I mean, isn't 3 years recommended? I took 3 years only because I knew I had to, in order to get in a UC school and yea. But since Chritsina (Chrissy) said theory of knowledge is fun.. well dunno. You could take it the next next year, maybe?

Woah, Christina! So many IB classes! flowers.gif How do you handle it?! worthy.gif

I don't have IB classes at my school.. mellow.gif

But next year, these are the classes I'm aiming for, for Senior year:
  • Journalism - Serrandipity school newspaper
  • AP Government and Economics
  • AP English (for 12th grade. I forgot what the class is called)
  • AP Psychology
  • AP Chemistry or Physics
  • AP Statistics or Calculus BC if I pass the AP Calculus test

allright, now im really pissed.

i was going to stay in band and spanish (plus core classes) but take IB lit and TOK. however, now i cant because i have to have 3 years of spanish to get into any decent college at all, even UGA. and im not quitting band. but i cant take the 7th period TOK like i thought, because i talked to the IB coordinator and he said i couldnt. so i was going to do IB lit without TOK, and now they changed their minds and wont let us do this mad.gif

you could try taking spanish online.. ask your guidance counselor if your school district offers online learning (for credit) or if it offers the apex program.

Whoa, that's a lot of AP classes... We haven't started programming at my school yet, but here are the classes I'm planning on taking:

AP Psychology
AP Calculus (AB probably)
Government/Economics
Regular English
AP Spanish Literature (Maybe...)
Gym/10Tech
and possibly another AP class if my average is high enough.
