i know that there may be other factors, other motivators, but i just want to know, out of these choices, which one keeps you working the most? why do you study, why do you do homework, why do you pursue academics? by the way, if you, in fact, do not feel an obligation toward education, please do not vote or post in this thread.

expectation. were school not set up the way it is today, however, i might be generally interested. i think we need less curriculum and more time to explore and develop interests

well, i would say that I want to have a successful career(making the $$$) which starts by having a good high school education to go off to the college of my choosing. I'm gonna need a high paying job with my bad shopping habits.

great topic i'd like to say. but anyways, out of that list probably either money or curiosity, mostly money. the curiosity is only applicable to certain subjects in school.

Curiosity, I like to learn. It may sound cliche but it's true, I like expanding my knowledge on certain subjects. That applies to every supject excluding Math.

This is a good topic

i want money cuz i need money. Without money, we cant live much happily becuase our economic is alot different ...

expectation becuase of acknowlegement and proudness.

I chose expectation: i just can't let my parents, teachers, and society down. I guess since my parents have pushed me to do my best, it's made me want to work harder for their pride in me.

Money, reputation, and esteem are also in there but expectation is the most important. My boyfriend even pushes me to work as hard as I can. Some of my teachers know that I can do my best if I put my heart and soul into it... I hate letting them down. :/

Expectation, and money probably. I work because my parents tell me to, and I can't let them down. I also work hard because I want a better future.

i definetely wanna get into a good university and all, but mostly because of my parents. theyre constantly asking me wat i wanna be when i get older, how im gonna get to it, etc. i cant stand to let them down. i dont wanna be a disgrace to my family. [my sis said that i was a disgrace already cuz i got a C+ in english last term _unsure.gif ]
and my sis is all into her schoolwork and set for life, so my parents expect me to be the same.

Hmm...well I do this all for myself.
I don't do it for anybody else. My parents, peers, nobody has ever pressured me to do anything or get good grades...I don't need anybody to tell me to do so.

I can progress on my own.

This was a really hard choice.

Money and Curiousity are my best choices.
I want lots of money so I can take my mom to the places
that she has never been to, like Paris for instance.
Also my mom's family who lives in Seoul, Korea now.
And fill my sister's wardrobe. I want to buy her clothes.
Her favorite clothes of course. But I don't want her
to turn like a spoiled brat -- no ways.
Maybe if I get rich, my dad will come back to my mom?
Also I want to live in a big house and get my
favorite car haha. Also give moneys to my church.
But if I get too rich, that would be a problem cause
it would be hard finding a husband. You never know
they might marry you cause you're very rich.
Eck I don't like those kinds of guys. It's very hard
to find a husband who doesn't really care if you
are rich or poor.

Also I'm interested in learning lots of stuff.
I like to learn more about animals, insects, the weather.
I like to learn more about music instruments.
So much. I don't think anyone is making me do all of these.
Probably to boost my self-eestem too?
.
.

I have no academic drive... for some reason. I just cannot stay focused when it comes to school. Even if I have so much to look foward to if I do good. For some reason I still do good...

//edit
I know what my academic drive is now, get the hell away from this house

most of the above.
reputation: my friends and peers know me as the "nerd" and nothing else, if that's not what I become, then what am I?
money: because that's how society is. we're greedy, and we can't get the things we want unless we work for it.
expectation: my dad is already disappointed in me because i got a B in math, and he's assuming I'm not getting into college (sheesh, wtf?). im aiming for the higher level colleges, i'll show him (grits teeth)
esteem: same as above, i think.

I'm actually a mix. But, I now realize that I do work because I'm interested in my academics. I'm interested in the world around me, you know? I am very curious.

I need to broaden my horizons.

It's really more of a combination of those choices for me. In fact, I'm sure every one of those aspects are involved. I can't exactly pinpoint which one is most prominent so I guess I have to choose them all. haha.
