last friday, a hynotist, Marc Savard did a show at my school. of course it was very entertaining. but at Bible Study Club, the teacher sponser was against it, and we had a discussion on it.

are you for it or against it? give reasons.

im not gonna debate about that, but imma bring up that issue..

i have never seen ACTUAL hypnotism (not the cartoon-like ones on television, but i mean real ones).

So the teacher sponser was against it, eh.? You're saying this was at the Bible Study Club, so I can bring up why your teacher sponsor is against it.

The reason most likely: "Works of the Devil".
Christianity explains Christians to not worry about what people do or the trends of the world. Hypnotism, ack, when you hypnotize somebody, you can hypnotize them to do anything you want. And doing anything you want is like what the Bible says :"Worldly acts." Christianity tells Christians not to do those kinds of worldly things. Hypnotism is considered a "worldly thing."

I'm not sure how the process of hypnosis works, but this is like the main point of it. now, let's hear the debating.

i didnt think it was real until my dads friend got killed

he was hypnotized(sp?) at some show and a couple weeks later he got killed in his truck. he crashed into a house.

my dad believes that the person who hypnotized him didnt bring him out of it right because there's a certain process as to bringing the person out. you just cant say "come back". my daddy thinks that because he wasnt brought out right and fell back into it while he was driving.

well, I am for hypnotism if only it is performed for medical reasons, or if someone can't remember a crucial detail, like in a criminal case, I guess that would be alright.

It's not even real control... they're making subtle suggestions, so it's more of a weakening of willpower... something that can be overcome.

How do you actually get hypnotised anyway?
I've never seen the real thing for myself so I don't know.
If hypnotism is for helping people and no one gets hurt, I guess it's ok.

I don't know why you should be against it.
I mean it's not like a bad thing.
Just for fun, that's what I think.
Well if they go too far, like hypnotize them to
do drugs or steal people's properties. Yeah
I'll be against with it. Well I guess I am against
hypnotism then....

WHOA... how does a person go back to being hypnotized when he was brought back by the person who hypnotized him? and you said it was a couple of weeks later.... thats just weird.
in my opinion, i think hypnotism is bad becuz its a work of an evil. its not normal thats for sure and thats why i dont like it.

I don't care much but there are no such thing as hypnotism..people only let themselves go and let someone else control them, but mentally the hypnotee is still in control of himself if he take advantage in it..

well besides the fact that i just saw an act on friday, and yes it does work; my mother, father, and sister all got hypnotized. she went to a specialist who made tapes for them, they had to listen to each night before going to bed.

mom/dad for weight loss/controlling their eating- definently worked, my mom lost a lot of weight from it.

sister-quit smoking. she did not touch a cig. for about 5-6 months but then stopped listening to her tapes so started again.

when I watched hypnotism on TV, i thought that those were just actors.. but I don't really find anything wrong with it.. except when evil people make people do bad stuff.
