In movies and tv shows I always see groups like the popular people, the nerds and all those other groups. Nerds being made fun of by the popular people like the jocks and crap. Then you know there are punk-rockers and things that are sometimes considered freaks and stuff... well yeah

I was just wondering if its like that in your school because in my school its not...

Everybody is cool with eachother. The so-called geeks and nerds hang out with the jocks and preppy people. There is no one group, everybody hangs out with everybody. Everyone respects each other, there are the occasional people who think they are better then everyone else but they eventually just fall into the group.

I guess it's sort of like that in my school, in the sense that there are different cliques and they all hang out with their own kind. The groups are different though.

There's the:
- slutty, poor, trashy girls
- prissy, rich, slutty girls
- academic/neutral girls
- really nerdy girls
- slutty Vietnamese girls
- neutral Vietnamese girls
- Hongers
- Korean-Hongers
- slutty Koreans
- Taiwanese-Hongers
- stupid FOBs
- really smart FOBs
- academic, yet sociable neutral girls
- popular Kappa/North Face white guys
- popular Kappa/North Face Asians
- neutral guys.

That was a long list. =] Basically, everyone minds their own business and nothing really happens. Although, there is the occasional popular white vs popular asian fight.

My school is like that.. sorta.. =/ There are groups, but sometimes people just hang out with everyone. Some people do think they are better than others tho.. =/ those people are evil =) but they are nice... if they want to be.

In my school, I'm known as a preppy, high-voiced, girly girl that always has a stupid smile on her face. >=(

normal people - people that are not labled. plain normal. average. nice. easy to get along with.
geeky people - people that are too smart for their own good. =p
popular losers - people that are hated for who they are... how they act... ect.

idiotic people - people that are stupid, but very funny =p

okay i was bored, so, i thought of the groups though i may have missed some...and i'm just thinking my grade cause every grade is slightly different:
- the "popular" girls that are pretty but half are bitchy (mostly prep/hiphop kinda i suppose)
- the other half of the popular girls
- the "popular" guys that are half jackasses
- the other half of the popular guys
- the esl students (mostly korean) that almost all smoke/drink way too much
- the geeks who worry about school way too much
- the skaters/stoners
- the normal-ish group of loud somewhat dorky but still cool (thats where i am! hahaha )
- the geeks who don't worry so much about school they're just kinda...geeks.

my school is divided into groups, but they aren't as extreme, also our school is small, so at least half of the football team is in music, and a lot of music geeks are kinda punk, etc.

Never really noticed, but we are divided into groups... There goes the punks, the "normal", the preps, and sometimes it's even colors divided...but we're all cool with each other. We just hang out in different groups. I guess I would be considered part geek part gangsta.

in my school...people have their own separate groups. punks tend to hang out with punks. preps tend to hang out with preps. jocks with jocks. nerds with nerd...etc.

but during classes and whatnot, most of the groups chill together and aren`t like "ew shes a prep". the cliques dont clash or hate each other. even though i hang out with the punks, for example, i still talk to a lot of jocks/preps/nerds all day.

Have any of you seen the movie "Mean Girls"?
Well, you guys know its based off the North Shore of Illinois (which is like the rich suburb type of thing). I happen to live in the Northshore, close to Evanston, in a different town called Wilmette...

Anywayz! Our school "New Trier" is sorta like what you saw in that movie...many cliques o_o..You hvae your asian group, prep, jock, nerds etc...Yay, i do find it rather sad that our school is like that...

But the main difference between "Mean Girls" and my school, is that its not dominated by 4 girls lmao

So yah...our school does have alot of cliques and stuff which sucks...

there are the punks but they have friends with other types of people

The "POPULARS"

The popular ho girls, but they all dress in abercrombie, but somehow make it look really bad. They are really loud and ANNOYING.

The popular girls that dont have to repeat an outfit for 2 months. Their wordrobe consists of AE, Abercrombie, and Hollister, ONLY. Usually cheerleaders or on the dance team.

The preppy popular girls, who hang out with the hos but make abercrombie and hollister look good. And get good grades, but pretend they are 'bad' but they arent.

The popular girls on sports teams.

The jock preppy guys, the ones who wear AE, Hollister, and occasionally Abercrombie. Theyre all really hot and everyone had a crush on them, deep inside.

The funny, popular guys, the ones who dress cheap (well, not Abercrombie, AE etc.), but are really funny, and get along with everyone.

The popular, but funny, uber-nice and smart guys, play sports, too. Lets call them perfect. Dont really like the jocks much, but hang out with them because they like football too.

The popular guys who hang out with the poular jock guys, but are sort of nice.

The "MIDDLE OF THE ROADERS"

The smart girls that wear A LOT of aeropostle. Their main hobby is dance. And shopping for clothes with no style or origanality.

The girls who mainly wear jeans and T-shirts, ocasionally a nice shirt, but never from Hollister or Abercrombie (it's not their style) But always wear AE. Are usually carrying a pusre, with tampons, because they are always talking about it.

The people that are nice, but some are really annoying people trying to get into the popular crowd.

Basically all the other guys that arent popular, but sort of are. They could be talking to the jocks, but only because they are in the same class.

The "NOT AS LUCKIES"

The people that wear Hollister all the time and talk to the popular people, but only if their in the same class. Hopes to be on the dance team next year to reagain her popularity because she had to move from a great town where she had tons of friends, to some stupid loser town where she has about 5 friends, at max. (Ok, so that group only consists of me.)

The people that listen to a lot of metal, could be druggies, or gay. They dont talk to ANYONE... EVER.

The unpopular people, that are still very hilarious. The people from the 1st unluckies group hang out with these people.

Just all the other people, good grades, etc. etc.

That should cover it... its only 8th grade too!

there are no more groups. group theory died in 1998.

the high school groups theory are brought from the 80's.
Its not interesting to watch a movie about today's high school.
So they make high school look like a survival of the fittest.

Todays high school. everyone is ghetto and trying to play the guitar at the same time, and then they go home and put some A&E on and go to the mall... talking ebonics... at starbucks... this millenium is sad.

-Latin: 30%
-Black: 30%
-White/Other: 10%

"Rock/Punk/Skater/Goth" - 20% of the school
-Latin: 9%
-White/Other: 10%
-Black: 1%

"Nerd/Geek" -10% of the school
-Latin/Black/White: 10%

And yeah, the geeks or nerds are the ones made fun of, sometimes the goths too.

Hmm... I guess I'll make a list as well. I created this list from my own perspective of each of the "cliques" at my school. I did not steal anyone else's ideas or anything.

• "Preppy popular groups" usually consists of mostly white/caucasian and the occasion Asian, black, maybe even Mexican person. I'm not being racist or anything. Just that the preppy white girls tend to look at me wierd. Most of them are athletes/jocks, ASB members, and/or hold any other leadership position. A few are really intelligent and are those preppy academic people. Others try to live up to that. Things can become very competitive. They migrate around.. usually on the benches, under the patio, near the ASB store. They are NEVER in the cafeteria. It's too "uncool" for them to be in the cafeteria. There are a few of these groups. All the people combined under this group are friends though, nonetheless.
• "Asian groups" consist of mostly Asian and a few non-Asians. They tend to band together and sit at the same spot. There are a few of these groups. There are people who leave the group and migrate to other Asian groups, but there's always one person at least that stay at the spot.At least 1/3 them are in Badminton..
• "Punk + Metal Rock addicts" tend to sit near each other and dress alike. Not exactly alike, but at my school, they tend to match. This is NOT to be confused with emo. Emo has a different group.
• "Emos" and the occasional druggie don't hang out all together. They tend to be split up, but sometimes they blend into other groups. They almost always wear the same thing as "emos."
• "The Outcasts" either form their own group and sit in the same spot, or they sit all alone. There's various kind of outcast groups. They either don't fit in the above categories or they don't give a rat's ass about any other group. They just go to school because they are forced to. There's not much to say about this group.
• "The whatever people" Are somewhat like outcasts, but have friends, regardless of who they hang out with. They can easily sliop into any group and can conversate with various groups, or just a selected few. No one hates them. They're just there. Some of the groups of "whatever people" tend to hang around the same spot. They're just there, hang out, have fun. Some could be athletes, academic nerds, etc. It just depends. They can easily mingle with other groups, only because they have something common with all other groups.
• The "Nerds" tend to sit alone or have a few other "nerds" with them. There's different groups of Nerds. They sit around where ever they can. They try to stay in classrooms most of the time since they only cae about school or they don't know where else to hang out. They can be any race. They almost never band together only because they are shy.
• The "Geeks." Not to be confused as Nerds, they are quite different. Although they might stay in classrooms and libraries whenever they can. Geeks tend to be a little more respected... It's hard to describe. They are very intelligent and something about them is appealing to other groups.
• The "Gothics" sometimes conversate with the Punk + Metak Rocker groups. They tend to be somewhat of outcasts; they dress in black and wear black make-up and people tend to consider them as outcasts and "wierd." Not much is known about them at our school, since there are a selected few who are "Goths." Sometimes they can mingle with Nerds or outcasts.

I belong in the "whatever people" group. I personally don't give a rat's ass about the school, but I hang with my boyfriend and friends. Maybe I'm somewhat of an outcast, maybe not. I focus on education and yea. I'm not really into the whole high school drama. I used to be in an Asian group. USED to..

The girls who spend all their money on clothes and makeup - mostly brands like TNA, T5S, Juicy, Miss Sixty, the occasional AE, Hollister, Abercrombie, FCUK, Baby Phat. They stick with their own group, mingling with the North Face/Kappa white guys. Some are academic, most are very stupid. Few smoke.
- academic/neutral girls
The girls who care a lot about grades, but aren't really geeky or especially trendy. Usually get along with everyone.
- slutty Vietnamese/Asian girls
Like the prissy, rich, slutty girls, except with way more eyeliner and all Asian. Primarily Vietnamese. Or, like in Mean Girls, the "cool Asians." Stick together, occasional greetings with the non-Asian rich, slutty girls. Many smoke.
-Hongers
From Hong Kong or certain parts of Mainland China (Guangzhou). Most are loud and annoying and choose to speak in Cantonese. They are very academic and usually go to university. Dress in incredibly trendy clothes, much like Japanese street fashion. I am sometimes part of this group. Hang out with their own group, occasionally mingling with other sub-categories of Hongers.
- Korean-Hongers
Like the Hongers, except Korean. Even more loud and more annoying. Some are very nice. The fashion is much less trendy, and more the stuff you see in Korean dramas. Few smoke.
- Taiwanese-Hongers
Hongers from Taiwan. Even more annoying and loud than Korean-Hongers. A select few are nice. They like to smoke. A lot.
- really smart FOBs
Spend excessive amounts of time doing homework. Always get good marks. Always get into university majors like the sciences. The true geeks.
- academic, yet sociable girls
Care about grades, but spend time to make friends and socialize. Kind of geeky, kind of losery, some band geeks here and there. Occasionally adopt trends of prissy rich girls. Usually wear AE, nothing too particularly showy or sexy. I am mostly part of this group.
- popular Kappa/North Face white guys
Wear Kappa track jackets or big down North Face jackets. Rude and gruff. Make excessive amounts of noise in hallways. Make wisecracks at teachers. Slap prissy rich girls' asses. Have no real purpose in life except to get laid and smoke weed.
- popular Kappa/North Face Asians
Same fashion as above. Less rude, less gruff. More attention to academics. Some smoke weed. Most of them don't. Mingle with Cool Asians.
- neutral guys.
A very general group consisting of academic/geeky guys, skaters, AE guys, etc. Most are nice and will mingle with most everyone.

popular girls/guys: always up for the latest fashion, always partying, the guys are jocks, the girls are fashionable. oh, and they're all LOUD.

nerd guys: self-explanatory.

jock girls: always up for a challenge. they lean towards the partying side a little as well.

asian girls: hey, that's me :). we're all asian (korean, chinese, one russian girl)

drama: they hang out near the drama building, wear their drama sweatshirts, talk about drama, etc...

outcast: they dont really belong anywhere, so they hang as a group.

On one side of the school, the Mexicans and Blacks hang out.. those are the gangs and such. Then on the other side of the school, the "good" students, mostly.

Fobs hang around/under the L building; skaters hang near the L building. Stoners & goths stay on the stage. Band geeks in the band room. ..yeah.
