I'm in England right now and the legal age is 18. I think that's about right. What do you think?

i think 18's about right. if you're old enough to vote and make a decision like that, then you should be allowed to drink.

I read somewhere that a human's liver does not fully develop until around age 21. That's why the rule is there. Alteast thats what i've been told. Although 18 is a good age. And i think gambling should be reduced to 18 as well, mainly because you are allowed to have credit cards at 18, which means you are old enough to manage money.

Feh... what difference does it make if you drink with a fully developed liver or with a premature (I don't know. I couldn't think of the word) liver? You're gonna kill it either way.

My personal opinion is people are stupid at every age. But I guess legalizing it at a young one would be like encouraging it...

Huh.

Fully developed liver age, it is.

I don't think drinking should be legal at all (please don't kill me..) but, I don't really care what legal age it is. But anyway, I agree 18 is the right age. happy.gif

Pffft....I don't give a f&!k. I drink a lot and I'm underage. So it's sall good. Hahaha, as long as my parents don't find out. I'm turnin' 21 next year. It's gonna ruin' the rush of smugglin' liquor out da house, but it will sure as hell make it easier for me to buy it.

alot of people dont listen to these rules anyway. if you were 17 and you had only one week till yur 18th birthday, the urge isnt strong. if you were 17 and waiting till 4 years later, you go drink. ermm.gif thats just how life is.

Someone told me less people are likely to drink if the legal age for drinking was higher, in this case 21.

hmm... i dont exactly care about the age as long as it is 16 or older. but i mean... i voted for 16 cause i want to try it one day (hahahaha jkjk) i only voted for 16 becuase by making the age 21, people who are younger try it because they get tempted more. like wen you cant have something, you want it more, if the age was 16, then it wouldnt be illegal for them to try it, and there would probably be more people not getting addikted to it rather than trying it illegally and getting addikted to it.
but, contradicting to this, there could be a possiblilty that more people would get addikted to it beacuse they could get it at such a young age. so i dont think it matters, as long as the drinker is mature and able to handle the temptation of addiction. _smile.gif didnt make sense, huh? haha

OMG! You guys hit my favorite subject. Well now that I'm 18 I think the leagal
age of drinking should be 18. Back then when I was 16 I though that should of
been the leagal age. Well overall I think it should be 18. By the way last friday
I drank some alcohol at mai hommies party that beer and Henny was bomb
bomb.

here it's 19 (BC, canada) i think it's fine. beside if you are going to drink the law aren't going to stop you.i drink occasionally and i'm underage. My parents don't care as long as i dunt kill their expensive wine. The urge to drink really fades once you can obtain it easily.. at least it is for me.

First off, I don't condone under-aged or binge drinking, but personally, I think that the legal drinking age should be lowered so that stupid idiots who think they are cool who drink can learn the responsibilities that come with drinking so that it won't be so tabboo, therefore it won't be so cool; it'll just be normal. When the drinking age is lowered, drinkers can learn to drink moderately. All things in MODERATION people!

my feeling is that if you really want to drink, then you are doing it anyway, and the penalties for getting ccaught arent harsh, so why even care what the legal age is?

(btw: I dont drink)

i think it should be 18.. if ur old enough to vote and to fight in a war [for the US anyway] then ur old enough to handle the responsibility... But, no matter what the legal age is, if someone younger wanted it they could still get it there are lots of ways that kids get alcohol

I dont really know what to say.
It depends.
Would you get drunk?
If so...I would say no for 16.
But if it was just like a little and not to much i'd probably go with 18.
I just put 20 thought because it just depends to me...

i think 18 is an average to be drinkin. bein from britain and bein legal as i am now i find it wicked that i can drink. i'm no alcoholic i haven't drunk much since like new years [keepin the weight off] but i dunno whether it's a case of a legal age cos some idiots out there shouldn't be allowed to drink period.

i believe that 18 is too young of an age. 21 seems about right. 3 years as an adult, then you can poison your body or whatever you want to do.

Even though the age when you turn into an adult is 18, I think the legal drinking age should be 21, because most people aren't really mature, even by 18.

if you really insist on lowering it, 18, when the parents can't be responsible for accidents.

i'm a no-alcohol/drugs sort of person. i'm only 15, but i got drunk once (by accident, because i'm small and have no tolerance) and the hangover sucked beyond words.

regardless of how exaggerated the stories are about drunk parents and drunk drivers, things like that aren't so uncommon.
