does anyone know where we can upload our own mp3 music besides going to the music sites that are provided? they are great sites but they dont have any good techno songs :) LOL

if sooo what i do is i use steambox ripper to convert my mp3 file to ".wma"
then i uoload mine on geocities

i use angelfire.com. just convert them to WMA format and upload some other files to your account. i don't think angelfire allows only WMA files stored in your account otherwise they will shut it down.

You should convert them to .wma.. uploading mp3's are illegal.

oooo quick question.. you know angelfire doesnt keep the wav files up that long because my song was working last night on my page that i uploaded and now its not working :( erm. is there any other reliable uploading places i could upload from? thanks :)

If it all of a sudden isn't working, they suspended your account. That happened to me once.

You should make a website for angelfire so they won't think you're just using it to upload music.

It's illegal to upload mp3's? O____O;; i always done that haha............................. mellow.gif dun dun dun *moment of silence* aww that sucks!!! gez... then why did they even create mp3 in the first place eesh... anyways... i upload them from tripod.com but they only hold up to 20MB if you want to get free site from them.

My friend gave me some of my own server space, because he own's a ton. So I don't know what I'd do without it, it's very nice. So I guess my best advice would be to follow their's. biggrin.gif

Uploading any type of music you dont own is illegal, making it wma doesnt make it "safe" to upload. If you get caught tripod or whatever host you have logs your IPs and they will track u down.

why is it illegal to upload mp3s???
because people abuse the privilege. P2P and file-trading (unless files are in public domain) is theft.

why were mp3s created??
they were created because the music industry and computer techies wanted a more compressed file format other than .wav and large .mpeg files for file storage. little did they anticipate P2P networks and impact of the mp3.

where can u upload mp3s??
come2store supposedly but every time I try it says the servers are down or busy.
personal ftps, but those are tricky.
personal, paid hosting sites. u are allowed to store any files that u want on a paid personal host as long as they are for YOUR OWN PERSONAL USE. u cannot distribute them or anything like that.

suggestions??
converting to .wma as opposed to .wav saves space and isn't TECHNICALLY illegal, although the uploading and distrubtion of any file NOT in the public domain or that isn't yours to disctribute, regardless of format, is illegal by copyright laws in the US. u could also try finding realmedia files and using the code for a realmedia player...

personally??
i use .asf or .asx files that other people host on their own servers or domains. as long as they offer them, then it's ok. there are some good xangas out there that offer those types of files...i've hosted some .wavs before on angelfire, but this was a while ago and they didn't freak out about hosting them back then. i guess they do now.

you can do it on windows media player, make sure your files are going to be converted into mp3 format before you rip the music though,
