Can you do the splits? I cant do it all the way. NE one have ne Tips to do the splits. I have to do this dance that requires the splits and I haveta learn >_<

I use to be a cheerleader and I use to be able to do the splits to the left, right, and center. My coach would come behind us and push us down gently while we were in the splits stance. Try having someone do that. It will hurt but eventually you will get it.

I would like to see a guy do a split. It must hurt like hell.

But nope, I can't do a split. I'm not that flexible. But this girl can. Actually, I think everyone that does gymnastics can.

i agree w/ cmgchica717 .. thats how i used to do them. it took a while for me though. it hurts at first, but after PRACTICE it'll be fun and u'll be doing splits everyday!
i havent done a split in over a year *tries it ... OUCH!* crazy.gif stubborn.gif

i can do a front split, i can't really do a center split but when i do spread eagle it comes off naturally, all you can do is just stretch everyday

I can't even touch my toes. I only go up to my knee, which is really pathetic. I am not even close to being flexible, so i can't do the splits. It looks like it hurts though. ><

haha yah im trying to do a front split. I've been stretching and trying to split for like a week. At least I see myself get lower ^.^ still needa learn to actually go down on the floor >_<

my dance teacher makes us sit in front of the wall in a split position(or almost split position) and then she pushes as hard as she can on our butt so our legs are being forced into the splits. painful. yes. but i guess it works if you do it everysingle days. try it with your worst enemy. rolleyes.gif

I can't do it, but there's this one guy in my 3rd period that can and also put his legs behind his head and start doing push up from that position.

i can do front splits either way and i'm about 1 inch off the ground for centre splits. biggrin.gif i do a lot of dance so yeah..but all you can really do is stretch and practice often y'know? it takes time, but you'll get it eventually. happy.gif

Haha, my uncle was telling me a story of when he was in high school. This guy was pretending to do a split, and this other guy smacked him hard on the back, and he ended up doing a split. A hard one. pinch.gif Rofl. Anyways, no, I cannot do a full split.

go in a split stance lean back until your butt touches the ground then reach forword and ask someone to hold yor thighs with their feet and pull your hands forword. sounds complicated but it is actually very simple

yea thats really how i did it. i'm in power tumbling and when i first started everyone in my group could do them. so i went home & went as far as i could everyday until i did them and ive been doing them ever since

T.T i can barely stretch.
aha in gymnastics we were doing these routines for p.e (compulsory god damnit) i jus did all these simple jumps and crap. there was this guy hu was liek really small and stretchy. he was doing his routine and he jumped and did the splits midair and landed ON THE SPLITS!! blink.gif
we're all like oouch .,. but he was like .. fine.

Yea.... i can do the splits.... not center... but i can do left and right.... right i can put my heal on a stair and go down.... witch is technically more then the splits... but like the way i got to do that is by trying every single day.... stetching then trying then stretching then trying and so on for like an hour... EVERY day....

yah i used to have to do them all the time for cheerleading. Basically it takes time and patience...and of course, streching...like if you're watching a movie, you should stretch while your watching it...just keep stretching and practicing and stuff...

I can! Basically if you want to learn how to do a split, just stretch you legs for like 30 minutes, then go down as far as you can until it hurts, then just keep doing that everyday. Thats how my friend learned

and if you want to do them, sit on 5 pillows for 30 minutes a day for a week. (sit in "split" position) and then the next week, sit on 4 pillows. (still in "split" position) and then the next week, 3 pillows and 2 and then 1 and then you will eventually get to none! laugh.gif

that worked for my sister because she is on the drill team. wink.gif

no, but if you practice at least for 10 minutes every week or better yet a couple times a week, you'll start getting more flexible doing the splits and you'll be able to do it one day. i almost got it, but i forgot to practice pinch.gif

Yes, but not quite so easily anymore. I can feel is pull a little. I don't really know about the advice part, I've been doing them since I was little. I think the younger you are, the easier. Maybe just try pushing yourself to go down a bit further?

it hurts but just get down into the stance and keep on sliding sideways or forwards [whichever way you have to go ] and have someone push down until you kan do it by yurself. it`ll hurt but eventually it`ll be easyy.

I know how to. Just stretch your legs every day, and go into your split (as much as you can do) and hold it for about 10-20 seconds and it should improve the more you do it.

my sister was the dance team. what she do is when she do the splits and she cant go all the way, she stretch. hope u know what i mean. it's like doing the splits and stretching at the same time but not all the way. and what i meant by stretching is just go a lil lower each time u do the splits but dont go all the way down...just a lil lower and later on, u'll be able to do the splits! hehehe

well i cant do my chinese but...tips for getting there is doing alot of butterfly stretches.

Shouldn't have someone push you do unless they know what they are doing. It can cause serious damage without you even knowing it. Personally, I'd rather just work enough on flexibility to be able to do them without help.

Which incidentally, getting back to the core topic, I can. Not as easily as when I was a gymnast, but I can still get down all the way. Sideways is easier, for me.

Tips for doing splits? Work on being flexible with conditioning and stretching exercises. Always warm up before doing anything, and don't hurt yourself.

used tu be able tu do the splits back in my childhood but after i quit kung fu, i was helluh stiff but i can still reach my toes... biggrin.gif

i can go all the way down but that is just flexibility that i am born with... practice the splits everyday, while ur watching tv, while u rnt doing anything xceptsitting around practice and just push urself to where it hurts just a lil and hold it there. while u r holding it there try to relax as much as possible until u r comfterble with being that little bit closer. do that again and again until u r all the way down. i no a couple more i can tell u if that doesnt work. email me at either thePINKspongebobROX@gmail.com or spongyb_ROXmySOX@yahoo.com

i sure can =D i can do left, right and middle..haha..i was a cheerleader for 8 years..so yeah..just stretch a little bit everyday and you`ll get it..its not that hard really..

Well..I go to gymnastics and we have to do the splits so ya..for tips just do a lot of stretching in your legs and that area and each day carry yourself down farther (to the ground) and if you feel pain in your legs and such then that's how you know it's working! It can be painful..but yeah..it's worth it if you want to be flexible and stuff..just don't hurt yourself lol happy.gif Good luck!

I never and can't do it. My body is pretty stiff.
