Hey. Spiffy thread!

Hm..
I don't have it memorized or anything, and I'm exceedingly generic.. but I like the last few of the entire Bible.

nice one. my favorite verse is 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

(I Timothy 2:11-14)
(Ephesians 5:22-24)
(I Corinthians 14:34-35)
(Genesis 3:16)
(Leviticus 21:9)
(Exodus 22:18-20)

Yea.... that's about it. Seriously though, they are among a few of my favories. But I'm pretty sure you can tell I'm not Christian.

Nice verses everyone. dani41790 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 is among my list a favorite verses to! I love it. =) To everyone who isn't a Christian or really hasn't memorized a verse yet hopefully people will keep posting and you will see one that touches your heart in a certain way. =) I will post another to keep it flowing! John 3:16-17- 16For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
17For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

"If a man's ways pleaseth the Lord, he maketh his own enemies to be at peace with him..."

Proverbs 16:7

That's one of my most favorite verses. Basically true sometimes because if you strongly have Christian beliefs and do things a way a Christian do, your enemies can be at peace with you.

I'm Christian.. but I haven't read the bible. But when I'm at a hotel, I always take the bibles out of the drawers in the nightstands and read the first part where they have all those weird languages. I like the one that looks like a catipilar. lol, I know.. it sounds dork-ish, but I've done that since I was 4 years old.. and it's still fun.. haha

Wow! Alot of replies.=P. Since this seems to be doing so well I'm going to start posting a verse/verses that I read from the Bible each morning that stands out the most to me. So if you guys would like to join then feel free =). Here is mine for the day: Mathew 5:13-16-

13You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.

14You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;

15nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

16"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

This really helps remind me that I have an important mission in my life which is to let the light of Jesus shine to others through my life. =)

P.S. I coulsn't agree more. It is all about John 3:16 =P

Hmm. Well that isn't very good answer. History and the Bible prove themselves. Jesus is mentioned in many important non-biblical historical documents. The story of Jesus is one the most well known stories in the entire world. The Bible is the best selling book still to date. I can go on and on.

Can you say that Alexander the Great did'nt exist? Or Muhamed Ghandi? You might as well say no one existed.

Jesus is only one of many great men of history.
Granted, Jesus was a great man of history. That is a fact. But, He is different from all the other great men of history. How many great men of history rose from the dead, calmed a sea, walked on water, raised others from the dead, healed sickness, and forgave sins? There aren't any others that I know of. Do you know of any? These things make Him more than great. They make Him special and unique.
You are right, Jesus was a great man. But let me ask you. If He were great, would He lie? Of course not. If He were great, would He be insane? No. You see, Jesus said He was God (John 1:1,14; 10:30-33; 20:28; Col. 2:9; Phil. 2:5-8; Heb. 1:8). If He were lying, we shouldn't listen to Him and we couldn't call Him great. If He were insane then we shouldn't listen to Him and again we couldn't call Him great. If He is great, then He must be telling the truth. And He was great, right?
John 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God." Verse 14 says, "and the Word became flesh..." The Word is Jesus. This means that Jesus is God in flesh. If this is so, then He cannot be merely "a great man of history." He would be far more than that.

Excellent stuff =)! I love these verses!

Some verses I am paritcularly fond of are Job 36:24-33. I love these verses because it is just one of the many that show how scientific the Bible is and how it proves that people weren't ignorant of how things worked back then and how awsome God is. These verses show the hydrologc water cycle. It shows us exactly how rain takes place and this is before science was even able to explain it! Actually this is how scientists learned how rain worked. _smile.gif

24 Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold. 25 Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off. 26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out. 27 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof: 28 Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly. 29 Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle? 30 Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea. 31 For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance. 32 With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt. 33 The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.

Love is patient; love is kind
and envies no one.
Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude;
never selfish, not quick to take offense.
There is nothing love cannot face;
there is no limit to its faith,
its hope, and endurance.
In a word, there are three things
that last forever: faith, hope, and love;
but the greatest of them all is love.

~ 1 Corinthians 13 ~

That's one of them, but i have a lot more

ooh and on this comment i just wanted to reply that if you ask any history teacher they would be able to tell you that there actually was a man named Jesus Christ in history that died on the cross and brought up the Christian religion. Plus they found a bunch of historical artifacts that were mentioned in the Bible. Plus you say that you dont know he exists since you cant see him... well air exists and you cant see that either.

JOHN 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

1 CORINTHIANS 13: 4-7 "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

by the way. LOVE THE TOPIC!

haha i like this topic, i have a lot of favorites:

"Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
-Isaiah 40:30-31

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me."
-Philippians 4:13

and

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD , "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
-Jeremiah 29:11

1 Peter 1:8
1 Timothy 1:15
1 Timothy 4:12-16
2 Timothy 1:6-9

ya can ya tell i like timothy??

The bible can be boring, and it can be hard to understand, but if you really study it, and read it like a book (not like shakespeare, just listing off words and not paying attention) lol the bible is amazing!
Even better - read it with someone... get interpretations, talk about it.. you will find the bible is the best book you'll ever read!

here are mine...

Luke 2:1-7

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived [2] in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: [3] for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. 24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

...another...

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born [1] of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

1 John 4:7-21

13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 17 Herein is our love [2] made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19 We love him, because he first loved us. 20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

...i am very tired of typing...TO MUCH TYPING...

...one last one... biggrin.gif

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green [1] pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest [2] my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. [3]

..i think thats to much typing? Oh well... biggrin.gif

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perserverance.
