Marvin Gaye. I just think he was more influential than Luther, especially in the hiphop world.

Wow. Some of you haven't heard of Marvin Gaye?

I'm sure you've heard

"Ain't No Mountain High Enough",
"How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You",
"You're All I Need to Get By",
"Nothing Like the Real Thing",
"I Heard It Through the Grapevine",
"It Takes Two"
"What's Going On?",
"Sexual Healing",
"Mercy Mercy Me",
"Let's Get It On",

and much much more.

He's got TONS of hits. And in my opinion, more of his songs are going to go down as classics than Luther's.

Plus, Marvin Gaye has already been inducted to the Rock & Roll hall of fame and Luther hasn't. Thats how INFLUENTIAL he is and how big his hits are. It's crazy that some of you guys haven't heard of him. huh.gif

"Dance With My Father" is one of the worst songs ever composed. Seriously. It annoys the hell out of me.

Now that I think about it, all the new Luther songs are awful. I miss the "Superstar"-"All My Love" Luther.

But then again, 80s Marvin wasn't too good either. Too Lionel Ritchie for me.

Overall, it has to be Marvin. He was a musical genius. And he made you think. It's a shame he destroyed it with drugs.
