What are your opinions regarding the following paper and the ideas presented in it? Just so you know, it isn't my paper. In a nut shell it describes the prospect of cultivating humans, or basically raising some people from a young age to only be able to do one thing and effectively brainwash them. Then would then become, as it is put in the paper, "Self repairing robots". This work is not to be published on any other site with my expressed permission.
QUOTE In countless matters, the human psyche presents numerous problems. Why? It is because we are selective in our activities and our vigor varies with our ever-changing duties. While we attend to the issues that we consider to be pleasurable with respectable haste and intensity, we place a notably lower amount of excitement into the tasks that we perceive as chores, and we may even attempt to evade them. It is also common for our programmed mindset to direct us to outright flee the affairs that we associate with risk or danger. Although these responses may appear to serve us quite well, they ultimately lead to either horrific inefficiency or bitter failure.
The solution to this dilemma is clear. Because the sources of this problem lie in a human's will to resist or refuse his or her responsibilities, in one's realization of more "entertaining" pursuits, and in one's desire to occupy himself or herself with other activities, making use of cultivated humans will result in swift and successful outcomes. The term "cultivated humans," which is used interchangeably with "manufactured humans," is not very widely known, so I shall take a moment to explain this aspect. Cultivated humans are people who were quarantined at birth and raised as insentient beings with no will of their own. They cannot think for themselves and are taught only one basic function, such as farming, breeding, cleaning, or killing. This ensures that the manufactured humans are always completely focused upon their tasks and that they do not develop desires for anything that they may find amusing. In essence, cultivated humans are inexpensive, self-repairing robots. An excellent characteristic of cultivated humans who are devoted to cleaning is that their usefulness directly benefits us, for they maintain tidiness within the containment zones of all the manufactured humans and can also be put to use as janitors in public areas. The crop-producing manufactured humans share this dual-purpose quality. They are capable of generating enough food to feed all of the cultivated humans as well as a large portion of our nation. Finally, there are the breeding manufactured humans, who fulfill their purpose by constantly reproducing and raising their children, which replenishes the supply of cultivated humans. With members from all three of the aforementioned categories, a population of manufactured humans is capable of sustaining itself, albeit with a little guidance, while continually producing many more infants than are necessary to replace the naturally occurring deaths. So, what do we do with all of these "extra" cultivated humans? We put them to use as soldiers! A good soldier never disobeys, and the manufactured humans' ability to carry out orders without protest allows them to fit perfectly for this role. When commanded to attack, the cultivated humans shall ruthlessly assault the enemy like fires ravaging the woods. When commanded to defend, they shall staunchly protect our lands like hornets guarding their nest. And when commanded to hold the line, they shall tenaciously set themselves down like the dike that repels the flood. Another convenient characteristic that makes cultivated humans an excellent replacement for soldiers is that they are completely expendable. Even if tens of thousands of manufactured humans were to be slaughtered in battle, their short turnover time ensures that our ranks are constantly being refilled, which essentially results in an army of infinite numbers that costs us virtually nothing to create and maintain. When we consider the practicality of employing cultivated humans, it becomes quite clear that they are very favorable as a resource. One reason for this is that they are devoid of the ability to refuse commands or rebel against their authorities. In addition, manufactured humans, who have never been exposed to the concepts of money or reward, do not require any form of payment. This saves the entire nation billions of dollars each year. Furthermore, cultivated humans toil until they die, for they have no purpose in their lives other than to carry on with their imprinted instructions. Finally, manufactured humans are easily replaceable, which means that there shall never be a shortage of farmers, janitors, or soldiers. It is inevitable that the practice of cultivating humans shall at some point come across the issue of ethics. However, spare me your garrulous tongues and timid hearts, for nothing can ever be achieved if we must endlessly debate such a trivial matter. Whether or not it is immoral to manufacture humans for our own benefit should not be a point of concern, for ethics are merely manifestations of personal opinions regarding what is honorable and what is dishonorable. Moreover, it is a simple and well-known truth that it is impossible for there to be fairness and equality in everything. Besides, this "wrongdoing" makes no difference to the cultivated humans, for they are quite content to mindlessly fulfill their designated functions. Are you now aware of this incredible resource that we have failed to recognize? Only the blind eyes and daft minds shall still remain incapable of perceiving the limitless benefits of such a wonderful supply. We can greatly profit from employing manufactured humans, and doing so shall create a better nation for us all. |

Then would then become, as it is put in the paper, "Self repairing robots". i have no time to read an entire paper, i have finals. but considering what you said in "in a nutshell" i think this is wroooooooong, robots are designed to be robots. HUMAN=HUMAN. we arent created(well, according to what i believe anyway) to be brainwashed and live a life just sharpening your pencil or whatnot. we live a life of PURPOSE. if children were brainwahsed, do you think they would really find hapinness in life? no. and if they found out the reality of it all, i bet they wouldn't like it either. ![]() |
