when do you guys take down your christmas trees? i didnt have one this year but my mom takes it down the day after christmas.

i know a friend that left it up till march and it caught on fire :P

De Venecia girl dies in fire at Makati home

The daughter of Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. perished in a fire that hit the House official’s residence in Dasmariñas Village, Makati City, late Thursday night.

Maria Kristina Casimira de Venecia, 16, was found lying lifeless inside the bathroom located on the second floor of their residence.

KC, as she was fondly called by her parents and relatives, wrapped herself with a wet blanket to protect herself from the suffocating smoke, according to arson investigators.

Insp. Rachelle Avilla, deputy fire marshall of the Makati Fire Department, said the de Venecia’s residence, on Magnolia Street, was reported to have caught fire around 11:20 p.m. The blaze was put out at 2:20 a.m.

Avilla said the fire was apparently triggered by defective Christmas lights adorning a Christmas tree placed at the residence’s living room.

KC’s nanny Maryjane Pagulayan was the first to notice the fire past 11 p.m. The fire quickly spread to the curtains and sofas just as she was about to call for help.

Security guard Teodoro Mason and electrician Alex Diliman desperately tried to control the fire in a vain attempt to prevent it from spreading to the second floor. They quickly evacuated the house knowing that everyone was well accounted for.

The de Venecias were out, and had thought all along that KC had gone with her brother Christopher to a coffee shop, as she had earlier meant to. Unknown to the couple, KC had changed her mind at the last minute and stayed in her bedroom.

That's a sad story. I heard about it from my parents & on TFC. My parents said that the reason the daughter might not have been able to get out was because all the windows were locked & barred, and she couldn't even break a window because they're all bulletproof.

Haha I left my plastic tree up until March one year.. then it was just taking lots of space. But we're leaving our tree up for a long time again this year, because it's our first REAL Christmas tree and it's really tall and smells really good. Let's just hope it doesn't die though.. we got that bucket with the water and everything =D

It depends upon when we put it up.
If we put it up pretty close to Christmas, we'll take it down in the middle of January.
If we put it up right after Thanksgiving, we'll take it down on the first of January.
