Yay for the most materialistic day of the year. This is by far the stupidest time of year. How did Christmas come to trading gifts? Christmas was about celebrating the birth of Christ, no? Why is this day only about exchanging gifts?
Anyways, merry f*cking christmas. Don't get run over. There's your f**king Christmas spirit, Santa. Bite me. |

I remember reading the other thread about "You can't have it both ways", meaning you can't be Anti-Christian and celebrate Christmas either. Well, Christmas isn't even about Christ anymore, so yes, you can have both.
Christmas has lost all meaning. It's just made of money, evil and greed. |

Gosh seriously. I didn't give anyone presents because of that. I hate that non-Christians celebrate Christmas, they don't know what the f**k it is. I don't care if Christmas is all about corporate whores making money, I'll celebrate it for what it is thank you very much, so I won't say "Happy Christmas." I'll say Happy Birthday Jesus.
Ok if you're not Christian, I respect that, but don't get f**king offended by my opinions already. |

Whoever said Christmas is about greed.. I disagree with you.
I'd rather give than receive. As would many other people. And you know what? I can celebrate Christ and give presents at the same time. |

QUOTE it's been proven that jesus was born around april 17. Yeah...we celebrate Christmas on the twenty-fifth of December because the powerful Christians in Rome desperately wanted those who still celebrated Saturnalia to convert to Christianity. They ended up changing the date to the same day as Saturnalia. But back to the topic...bleh...presents make me happy...I admit I'm materialistic. ![]() |

So heh, it's not really wrong of me to give presents and receive them in return, I don't find it selfish or anything greedy of the sort.. but heh, my opinion, but merry f*cking christmas to you too.

The Christmas tradition of gifts and giving is based on the story of the three wise men bringing gifts to baby Jesus.
Christmas is not based on "money, evil, and greed", at least not for everyone. It depends on how you and your family or friends celebrate it. Anyhow, Merry Christmas everyone. |

And once more:
Christmas is about the birth of Christ, December 25th, however, is only about Christ for the sake of conversion. Therefore, just celebrate the way you want. Anyway, Merry Christmas to Christians, and Happy Holidays to the rest of us~~! If you want non-Christians to not say Merry CHRISTmas, then copyright/trademark the word. |

oh noo... yikes.
Yes, Christmas is about the birth of Christ and spending time with loved ones, but it was once only a holiday just to "chill and have fun," during the 4th century. The belief and story of "The Birth of Christ" was commercialized during the early 20th century. go research the history about Christmas (if you find results about the Birth of Christ, keep searching, cuz it wasnt all about the Birth of Christ, but they made it like that during the early 20th century. Many ppl arent even aware of the history.) Merry Christmas all, and remember, Christmas is all about family, friends, and love. **EDIT** Wait.. i found the history. IGNORE THE POST ABOUT THE 4TH CENTURY ABOVE. The History of Christmas This should explain some confusion. I can't believe i read the newspaper to see that it originated from the 4th century. |

Actually it's a Pagan holiday. The traditions are all Pagan, but the origin is Christian because of the birth of Christ. You can celebrate Jesus' birth and not exchange gifts at all. Or you exchange gifts and do it the Pagan way and not ever remember the birth of Christ. Or you can do both; exchange gifts and remember "the reason for the season".
Happy Christmas, and don't be so bitter. |

O.o Once again, negative connotations and love for others don't mix. |

i learned that jesus' birthday was sometime in the fall like september or something but im really noticing that to most people christmas is only about gifts and getting the right gifts and rushing to the stores to find that perfect gift and that isnt what christmas is really about and its jsut sad that the world has created a new meaning for christmas.

yeah christmas is too materialistic and has lost it`s true meaning. but to me, i still celebrate the true meaning so i don`t care about how everyone else treats the holiday. if they want to be greedy & selfish, let them.

Whoop-E. As for Christmas? It's really just like any other day of the week, month, year. Except that I go to church the day before, the day, and the next day. |

I think its more about giving to others, especially those less fortunate than you. Obviously its been exploited by the free market but that is unavoidable. Rather than sitting at home and wishing people a "merry f*cking christmas", you should go volunteer at a homeless shelter or donate to a charity. |

Okay, re-reading over this topic I've come to a conclusion:
For the most part, Christmas has indeed lost its meaning. Maybe not for everyone, because my family and I still celebrate it as the birth of Jesus Christ our savior. People may have their own version of how this holiday came to be, and how they celebrate it is of their own will. There is no certain way that people of Christianity or as of any other religion for that matter, since even non-Christians participate in this event, have to celebrate it. It's just horrid to see how we've come so far as to ruining it for some people and filling heads with the thoughts of presents underneath your little Christmas trees and comparing them with that of others. Greed and money do take part in this event because of greed and money. Bottom line. Christmas has lost its truth for most who only think of presents. People have the freedom to celebrate this occasion in any fashion they see fit. Pfft, forget armagedon. We can end the world ourselves it seems. ![]() |

Like I said, I can read well, it's how you present the material that confuses the reader.
