so lately, like the several weeks. i been noticing. almost everyone is shallow these days. i admit myself i am shallow a bit. but i try hard now to stop judging peopel by the way they look. everywhere i go, i hear "damn he/she is ugly". most of the time i get pretty mad, and say stfu u damn shallow ass. why is people so damn shallow. i know people go out with others beacuse of their looks, but why judge someone beacuse of the way they look. personality is the most important quality in a person, not looks. i see myself alone in this world. i feel shitty about this. anyone here feels the same way i do?

Actually, I know there are people who are not shallow but it's because the majority of us are, we overlook them. Those who have been in a situation that must face shallowness from others tend to deviate from that kind of attitude because they know it can be hurtful.

Also, it depends on what kind of shallow. As in, there's shallowness in wanting a brand new sports car instead of a humble want of car that runs great. That kind of shallowness--wanting a car that's better than other people's--isn't all that problematic. Then there is the kind of cruel shallow that demeans what other people possess.

Hmm, my friend says "personality is all that matters, I don't care about their looks" And I realized that he's never gone out with a girl that isn't EXTREMELY gorgeous. People lie about that.. and it pisses me off more than shallow people... I guess you could say I'm shallow.. I don't go around calling people ugly though.

But even so, I believe that there are people, although rare, who aren't shallow. I try to look past looks as well, since I'm not much of a looker myself anyway. I agree, the majority of the people are shallow, they can't help it. Most of us, if not all, are attracted to others mainly because we notice their looks first. There's been times where i've liked guys who others might not think are cute in any way, but their kindess and personality shine through.

But I've noticed that most of the "hunks" are usually taken or they are only into their looks and have a bad personality, so I'd rather not consider ever like-liking them. I might think they're cute, but I wouldn't ever consider liking them because all the ones that were "hot" were very superficial and were too into their own looks that they lacked in other good qualities.

But I've been able to look past shallowness... I'm not a gorgeous person or anything, and I like people for more than just looks, in fact, I know that those who are really "hot" are mostly shallow. Notice how I said mostly, not all. We can't help being shallow. If everyone was blind, then maybe, JUST MAYBE, we wouldn't be shallow.

Everyone is shallow, and I am included. It's where "first impression" gets off and "love at first sight" comes in..It's human nature to tell you the truth to be shallow. Don't worry so much, Just try and take in people's personalities too and you should be able to avoid some sense of shallowness.

Yea, most of the girls I know are really shallow. This girl I know actually told my friend she liked me but would only go out with me if I lost some weight. I agree everyone's even a lil bit shallow. I'm shallow but only when I don't know person very well, after I get to know them I judge them based on personality. I've been wondering about this too...I mean sure looks are good, and I wouldn't mind dating a good looking guy and such but...personality counts for the most part you know?


Just today I got this guy who added me on his msn list and asked me if the profile pic was of me...I said yes and he replied with something like, "uhmm..well...you look (can't say)..." and just signed off. Then when I posted my picture on a different forum last year, the people commented me on my CHAIR...or the blinds behind me saying, "oh...well your chair is nice..."

And everywhere I look, people get by because of their looks. If they look hot or pretty, they get ALL the attention.

I swear, I'm basically sitting in the corner of every damn room. And I wonder, am I horribly disfigured or what? People, and especially guys, tend to ignore me. It drives me crazy.

unfortunately, thats the way things are. it's human nature. we rely heavily on our perception of things. i agree that it's sad, but once we can look past the exterior and see what lies beneath we can perhaps be, in some ways less superficial.

I sort of feel how Tung did back in '04. While I admit I'm also shallow, I don't outwardly express it like some other people do. Its mean for someone to say to someone else that they're ugly, or fat, just because its being blunt or whatever.
