Imperfection Brought By Love

It’s the fact that every single promise you made,
Were picked up by my ears as lies.
It’s the fact you said you’d hold me,
And love me till the day we died.
You said you could see us married,
One day it would be your dream and mine.
I was young and even stupid,
Unable to see that your words were just a line.
You were sweet, and perfect,
Calling me your princess in a silver crown.
It was always silver; never gold,
Maybe you were what always brought me down.
Crying became my weakness,
And you forgot to ask what was wrong.
You’d yell at me for being stupid,
I don’t know why I held onto this so long.
In my eyes I was ugly, hideous; just a monster,
You said that I was beautiful; you said you loved my eyes.
All you had to do was look in them though,
To see my pleads, and to hear my cries.
Maybe you were never even listening,
When I told you I was leaving you.
Maybe you didn’t even care,
But in the end I came back crying, this you surely knew.
I wonder if you’d care that you’re the reason,
The reason I’ve taken a blade to my wrist.
I keep in memory those who have destroyed me,
It’s really hard to tell you, you’re at the top of the list.
You always told me that it wasn’t your fault,
But who else’s could it be; you knocked down the wall.
Before you came I’d started to rebuild myself,
Now I’m impatient, always waiting for your call.
All my friends they’ve come to tell me,
That I’m foolish to even try to wait.
I don’t know how I can ever tell you this,
But your call…it came to late…
