do any of you know any good internet servers? i have IE6 but i have soo many problems with it, including pop-ups and spyware and i have tons of programs to prevent both of them. recently i've been getting porn ads, and ...yes they're very unwanted and it's embarrassing and they never used to come for awhile. so i want to get rid of them and all my other problems. any help will be appreciated, thanx!! _smile.gif

Mozilla Firefox happy.gif The only thing i don't like about it is the lack of audio... however if you download Quicktime... i've found that it helps. biggrin.gif

But Firefox has no pop-ups, secure and you can skin the browser anyway you feel like it _smile.gif

i use firefox to test my html codes, but i prefer ie for surfing and i dont know why. i think both are basically the same, i'm just more accustomed to using ie i guess.

you said you have tons of programs to 'prevent' pop ups and spyware? what are they? ad-aware is great against browser hijackers which i think what causes your ie to load all that porn stuff.

article about browser hijacker:
http://www.wired.com/news/infostructure/0,1377,63391,00.html

just stop clicking those fake ads that you see, stuff like "you have xx number of spywares, download 'name of program' to get rid of all blah.." those stuff with the "yes" or "yes" popups... (even when you click no, it still downloads) i think even when you click the x button it still downloads lol.

stay away from those.
stay away from porn sites too, but if you must, at least set your "privacy setting" to high or block all.

last but not the least, read a little bit of infos about your pc and internet
a little knowledge of how those malicious programs work will come in handy.
see, even with a firewall, virus scanner, popup blocker, firefox etc,
you are still vulnerable. how much more if you dont know jack about pcs.

what do you mean by best? on a design standpoint, i choose internet explorer. actually in any standpoint, lol. it's faster, it doesn't abide by w3 standards so it basically accepts anything... it allows you more freedom in design.

i don't know why all of you are complaining about spyware and popups ;x... you guys don't know how to take care of your pcs, haha.

for the windows users out there... xp already came out with sp2, i mean did you guys even update?! cause sp2 comes with a popup blocker -_-... and for you who are talking about the microsoft messenger popups -points/laughs-... go learn how to disable them, lol.

my ie browser is way faster than my firefox browser... and i don't need "tabbed windows"... i mean xp already has a taskbar, so the windows are technically already "tabbed".

for those of you up there who say "ie is full of bugs"... exactly what kind of bugs are you coming across? lol.

and for gotnoheart... go dl lavasoft adaware to get rid of all that spyware.

download mozilla firefox.
you can keep IE (with cookie blocking and spybot and adaware of course) to view pages that are messed up in firefox/designed by lazy coders

there's lots of extensions to add features, and themes if you don't like the look.

I've always wondered about that too... how do these people screw up their IE that bad? huh.gif
I'm a Firefox/Safari user because it's what's best for an iMac user such as myself... but I never have problems at all with IE when I'm on a Windows comp.

IE's active X allows sites to take control of your computer, if you click yes. sometimes even if you click no.

i don't really have that many problems with IE, i have extras that keep it good, but i really like the tabbed browsing of mozilla, and the plug ins there.

mozilla is more cutting edge.

IE is virtually the same as 5 years ago.

okay. i guess this is kinda going off topic, but yeah. i used ie6 for everything until after a couple years it just kinda died. so i got firefox. i love it and it works really well for me, but some of the css on xanga screws up? i'm thinking mozilla doesnt support colored tool bars for example. my friend told me it was possible, but i have no idea how to code it now... help?

IE has not been updated since 2001.

Mozilla can be updated anytime of the day.

Which one do you think has less bugs?

mozilla can be updated by any programmer out there since it's open source.

ie is updated by high paid microsoft employees.

if you ask me i'd think ie is better coded.

I.E. is updated in a way that will give microsoft the most money.

Mozilla is updated in a way that makes it better to use.

if you don't belive me... hang on and let me find an active X site and get you to go to that with your I.E. and i'll go with my mozilla and let's see who's computer becomes an expensive rock.
