lol i asked my brother:

short easy answer to not get confused: it's all the same

other answer: r & b is like hip-hop but r & b has more beats. and rap is like r & b and still has the beat but not as smooth. hip-hop is usually more not as danceable as r & b. but you can still dance to both. rap is usually not danceable but has a lot of rap. but r & b and hip hop both has rap too. blink.gif

wtheck? lol

...r&b stands for rhythm and blues.
...rap is poetry with a beat.
...hip hop music contains six sixteenth notes (a "double triplet") per beat.

Oh my. So many WRONG answers here.

R&B = Rhythm & Blues. A genre of music; also known as "soul" music.
Hip-Hop = culture that includes rap among other things.
Rap = genre of music where rhyming lyrics are chanted.

the difference is very simple.

R&B is music usually slow (like slow jams) singing about something and usually very clear.

Hip Hop is music with a beat that make ur head bounce and can dance too. "Rap" you hear on the radio is really hip hop.

Rap is alot of rhyming and flowing and harder than Hip Hop. Commercial Rap is usually hip hop. Real Rap is barely heard on top 10 radio stations and is usually hard to understand..

...or something like that.. usually how i put things.

well i can't really tell what's the diff between R&B to the others, but i think hip-hop is like a song with lots of beats and a little of R&B in it and i rap is just words with background music

R&B - Slow beats, more of a calmer melody

Hip hop - danceable (word?) beat, faster than R&B, can involve rap, but also has singing in it

Rap - spoken poetry with beats

IMO, of course. flowers.gif

r&b and hip hop/rap are in totaly different categories.
r&b- slow, usualy about love
hip hop- more upbeat rap, verses and bridges and a really catchy chourus i guess
rap- usualy the artist freestyling and talking nonstop i guess

well im not a fan of those type of music but.. i'll try my best to guess

i think rnb is like soothing soul kind of music
then hiphop is like good beat and you can dance to it and it has more energy
rap obviously is fast words into music..lol rhyming and such

Well, you could define rap as a verse in a song. In that case, the two would be different, since the rap is found in a hip-hop song. In any case, maybe it comes from being exposed to the culture, but I know when I'm listening to hip-hop and when I'm listening to rap.

To me, R&B is like a soul, slow rap/rock song? Ex: "Rock the Boat" by Aaliyah.

Hiphop is like a nice bass beat to it?

Rap is with some rhythm from what experience we went through?

If I confused you... I'm even confused on what I said... mellow.gif
