bloody nose Options

so i`m sure it`s pretty normal to get a bloody nose & that almost everyone has experienced one. but is it healthy to have them for long periods of time? like yesterday i had one from like 8 pm to 1 am on and off ... and i just had one a few minutes ago & last week. also, is it healthy to get them frequently? and does anyone know what causes them? well yeah..that`s all i have to say =)

Err.. I don't think thats quite healthy...
Maybe you just need more calcium [I think its calcium .. ehh i could be thinking of something else...]
And.. what are you doing to stop your nosebleeds?

yea i dont think its too healthy. you can get them from high levels of blood pressure. or overusage of the brain. hahaa. &also from extreme heat. i never knew it had to do with calcium . hahaa.

woah thats crazy. when u have a bloddy nose, dont tilt ur head back. the blood will go in ur stomach. just keep ur head level and put like a wet washcloth on ur forehead. but u might wanna try eating different things to see if it influences whether or not u have a bloddy nose

^ actually, it goes up to ur brain which isnt healthy.. i really dont know what u should do, i usually put tissue up and it eventually stops =\. drink lots of water.

I get them quite often.. I remember one day [a few weeks ago] I got 3 during school.. each lasted about 20 minutes.
I've never had them like that before.. but I DO get them really often.
I get one or two per week.
I don't know why certain people get them and stuff..

I got them a couple of times...and I get it from heat..I get hot pretty quick...and last time I tilted my head back..and could feel the thick blood going down my throat...and that SH!T is nasty...trust me .....ughh...I can taste it now...get ur head cold ASAP...cold washcloths...or ice...ect.

Yea, it's very dangerous to have a lotsa nosebleeds. Attila the Hun died from a nosebleed. (Just a little fact for ya)


I heard if you put a piece of paper towel where your gums are under your upper lip, the nosebleed stops.

It works ALL the time for me. Guaranteed.

that doesn't sound too healthy. eat a lot of fresh veggies & fruits. maybe that will help? slapp cold water on your forehead & that makes the bloody nose stop.

i used to get a lot of nosebleeds due to drastic change in the weather...so if its reallly hot and all of a sudden the temperature drops the next day, u might experience some nosebleeding.

also when its really cold and we turn on the heaters, my nose bleeds.

if ur nosebleeding has nothing to do with temperature changes, or violent picking of ur nose, then its prolly not healthy =(

thats scary, but i used to get a lot of nosebleed too, but then i became a cheerleader and i dont get as picky when i eat, and it seemd to regulate everything, i sound like my mom, but there is a reason y they told me that.

uh i saw this commercial about this girl she had a bloody nose all of a sudden in class and well at the end, it said like dou stil think ur in control? its the drugs uve been taking.

out of all the injuries i got in my life ive never had a bloody nose but i want one so i can be one of the people who have said, "yea those things ______ (insert word there)" but ur not supposed to tilt ur head back cuz the blood can run down and cause choking in sum cases

Well, yeah, you can get them from picking your nose.. but I wasn't sitting in band class picking my nose, and I got bloody noses from then on til the end of the day. O_o

So it's not always from picking your nose.

well there could be something wrong with your nose. my friend has this problem with her nose so she gets bloody noses often, but a month ago she got laser surgery and she's fine now. ask your doctor! thats your best resource!

well i'm not so sure but its definitely not healthy, is your house too dry? like is the heat too strong? thats a possible cause. you ever fell or get hurt on your nose before? its possible that it broke some part of it inside, so the blood isnt hold in and comes out. you should go see a doctor to check on it.

Oh umm.. this sounds dumb but I used to have like bloody noses all the time (family genes..) but anyways, my grandma told me to put vegetable up you nose. Like um.. the leaf of umm.. those.. Bok Choys. And sorta roll a ball out of the leaf and stick it up in your nose like you would do with a tissue paper. I swear that works. I think it's the um.. nutrients from the vegetable.

I used to get them A LOT. When I was a kid. But yah, not anymore...

I don't think it's healthy for you...but I wouldn't worry about it. If it gets too extreme, go see a doctor. My mom always said it was because the weather was dry, like during the winters. Maybe you should drink more water. Or...some sort of honey-lemon drink. Tastes good and helps the nose bleeds =)

Oh yah, and DON'T TILT YOUR HEAD BACK. It's not good for you. Always keep your head level.

What I always used to do was take a piece of tissue, rip off a 2 inch strip, and roll it up into a tight cigarette-like thingie...and stuff it in your nose. LOL. It sounds gross but it's easy and clean to deal with. You can tell how much you're bleeding by how much red goes into the white...If you know what I mean...

So yah.

mm...if it's happening on and off, maybe because you're rubbing your nose? i dunno, but when i get nosebleeds, i get them on and off for a week because apparently the tissue in my nose or whatever is too thin.

yea i get bloody noses some times too but not like that ... dont lie down or tilt ur head back they dont help ... but u are supposed to pinch and hold ur nose at the top .. not all the way at the topbut where the big bone is ... then it should stop

first of all, maybe you should try going to a cool place and keep ur head tilt back. oh anddd answeringg ur question, like i think its only once in a while, i mean if you have it to frequently, maybe you should go to a doctor or something

it's probably in the genes. i used to have bloddy noses lots of the time, but it's stopped about a year ago (i'm 13 now) maybe you're extra sensitive to the weather where you live i dunno. but it's normal, but if it gets really really heavy for a long time go to the doctor
