If you didn't know...it's my recent obsession. My uncle introduced me to the first season over the summer because he's as obsessed with her as I am with Johnny Depp. So then he sent me the second season. He's going to send me the third season soon and I should be right on time to see the latest season. I love this show. I LOVE IT. I'm glad there's no way to make a reality TV show out of this. *Knocks on wood* At least, that I can think of...

Must keep this topic alive...

But yeah, season four is disappointing so far... but I'm not going to stop watching it after just three episodes. But as a fan since the beginning, I'm just baffled. It's like they've thrown the first three seasons out the window, like they didn't happen... all that we've learned since then means nothing. UGH.

And now the episodes are self contained, meaning it's like CSI... there's just one storyline for each episode... it's not a continuous storyline like the first three seasons. Rambaldi is taking a back seat until who knows when. I understand that the whole story of Rambaldi is confusing to new viewers and that's why they're not focusing on him, but hello?! How can you have THE CHOSEN ONE, THE PASSENGER, and THE BIGGEST RAMBALDI ZEALOT working together AND NOT HAVE RAMBALDI?! That's just bull.

I know season three sucked and they need more viewers, but to act like the first three seasons didn't happen is just beyond me. Everything is all shiny and new...

And I feel like they're trying to put everything they lacked in season three into every episode. People missed Sydney the person (not Sydney the spy) last season, so we've seen her home countless times already in these first three eps. People missed Sydney having friends... she's thrown a party for Weiss's birthday already. People missed all the butt kicking... we've had MANY fight scenes already. It's just ridiculous.

I had so many questions regarding last season and the season finale, and I feel like none of them were answered. The most important question being what the hell was SAB47... and they totally copped out and gave a pathetic answer. I in no way believe that those documents were about Jack requesting to kill Irina.. what does that have to do with SAB47? A project overseen by Jack and started on the date of Sydney's birth?! I wasted SEVEN months of speculation on SYDNEY when it was just about killing Irina.

Speaking of Irina, they've finally closed the door on her. So she's dead... Jack killed her... do I believe that she's dead? Do I believe that Jack killed her because she'd put a hit on her own daughter? No way. I know the writers had to take her out on way or another because Lena Olin refuses to reprise the role, but the way they did it was just... UGH. Irina Derevko is such an important part of the show and her death just... wasn't enough justice for her.

And I don't understand why VAUGHN is a part of APO (ridiculous name by the way, IMO). I understand Jack is there because he's the closest to Sloane, along with Sydney. And Dixon... because well, they killed each other's wives, and they've worked together for almost as long as Jack's worked with Sloane. Those three have worked with Sloane, they know him... they can keep an eye on him. But Vaughn? What do they need him for? Besides the fact that he's good looking and of course he has to work with Sydney... he has no ties to Sloane. Ugh. (I don't like Vaugh BTW, or the relationship he has with Sydney.)

Oh, and speaking of Dixon and Sloane working together... HOW CAN THEY?! They killed each other's wives, for crying out loud! Yet they show no objection and no hatred towards each other. Unbelievable.

And where is the Covenant? There's no word of them whatsoever... where's KATYA? She tried to kill Sydney, yet she doesn't seem to have anything to say about that... alllllllright...

It's just a web of unanswered questions. And I feel like there's no big aim for ALIAS anymore... no bigger reason why they're doing what they're doing. Before, everything was about Rambaldi... working to recover his works, to find out all they could about him, to find out what his endgame was. And now? Whatever they do in each episode is just that... they're not working to solve this big puzzle. It's just... blah.

I used to wait impatiently each week for this show. Last week? I slept through it and had to wait until Saturday morning to download it. And I wasn't even freaking out about it like I would have been two/three years ago. This used to be a smart show... it used to involve some thinking... and now it's just... Sydney goes out and kicks butt and takes down the bad guy of the day. And that's it.

JJ needs to focus more on Alias and less on Lost... or this season is seriously going to be the last of Alias.

PS.... I know that was LOOOOOOOOOONG rant... but Alias does that to me.

It so was. Now it's just... there. Trying to bring in more viewers. It's doing okay, since Lost is the lead in... but to sacriface the old viewers for new viewers...

Oh, and I didn't even mention the new opening credits. Can you say network interference?! All those flashing pictures is distracting... and the twist to the theme music sucks. I liked the old credits much more.

ALIAS<3. It was my newest obsession this past winter break. (: My sister came home with the Season 3 DVD and I was hooked. I think with Season 4 and how Rambaldi isn't incorporated into as much, you can watch the episodes separately, rather than in a series. I guess that's good for people who start watching in the middle of the season? But yeah, Alias is the shiz.

I believe it's still the same writers. But being that most of them are also writing for Lost... it seems they're losing their focus. And JJ apparently is still trying to get his other show starrin Greg Grunberg on TV. If that happens... Alias is even more doomed.

Back in the day, I was an S/V shipper. But then season three came along and I jumped ship. I'm now a converted Sarkney, even if it'll never happen. Vaughn in season three was just... UGH. He kept messing with Sydney's head... in Korea he tells her he loves her and she's the only one for him, they get back home and he runs right back to Lauren because her father is dead. Sure, he needed to comfort her, but did comforting her need to include jumping into bed with her? No. And now I just don't like Vaughn.

And I actually don't like Sydney very much either. She's too stubborn and she gets on my nerves. I actually only watch the show for Jack and Sark. And now that Sark is just a recurring character... stubborn.gif

Hopefully the first three episodes aren't how the rest are going to be. I need some old faces to return and some questions answered, or at least have last season addressed. And Vaughn's "last year SUCKED" doesn't quite do it for me.

As for Irina, JJ should have contracted her for more than one season. I seriously don't think she'll be back. But I guess he has hope because he obviously left room for her return later on. But Irina is such an integral part of the show, not having her in season three is pretty much why it sucked so bad. I mean, c'mon. We knew about Irina way back in the beginning of the first season, long before we even saw her... countless episodes were devoted to her. It may be sacrilegious to recast her, but I'd rather have a recast than have the show sucking. Just write it so that Irina had to have surgery to change her appearance for protection. I'd believe that, it's Alias.

And reading the titles of the upcoming episodes... I'm just like, what the heck. They're so different from the first three seasons' titles.

allen, it sucks that you started watching season three first. You should really watch the first two... now they were awesome.

You know, hearing the actors and JJ hype up this season, I really thought it was going to be awesome. So far, I've been let down. This used to be a smart show and I guess that's the thing I miss most about it. Self containment works for shows like CSI because they've got lots of dead bodies and murders to solve and they only need an episode for each scenario. But Alias has/had a purpose.

The objective word being WAS.

But I guess judging from a person who's never seen the first two episodes, this new season would be considered really good.

Well, new episode tonight... hopefully it rocks.

Speaking Sydney... in the first three episodes, she's been saved three times. stubborn.gif Vaughn had to save her in the cargo of the train, Nadia had to save her from the water mask while Jack, Vaughn, AND Dixon were all running down the little bitty hallway to find her...

The old Sydney would have found a way to save herself. When did she become so dependent on other people?

I love this show!

Especially with all the undercover CIA stuff.

Jennifer Garner does a great job on this show and hopefully, it would keep on going.

Especially with the current storyline and all of that things in her life.

There is no current storyline really. They're just Black Ops... there hasn't been an established big bad guy like the Alliance or Covenant...

Will was awesome. Not having Will and Francie last season really sucked. Not sure if he's coming back for an episode or two this season. Hopefully he does.

Lauren... eww. I have nothing against Melissa, but Lauren just sucked. It's so obvious JJ didn't intend for her to turn bad. The first time we saw her holding a gun, she was like, freaking out. And then later on... she's all bad ass chick sniping and killing a guy. Believable? Hell no. And not only did she ruin the show, she ruined SARK for me. He's always held Sydney in the utmost respect for her skills and whatnot... and then Lauren comes into the picture and he's all drooling over her and saying he's impressed by her skills. Ewww. And he actually killed Bomani... but I'm still convinced that he only killed Bomani to save himself... and making her in his debt... he didn't do it just to save her.

Lena lives on the East coast and Alias is filmed in LA... she doesn't want to spend time away from her family. They even offered her like, a million dollar an episode and she still refused.

The APO office is so white... it's like, blinding.

Yeah, I really hope so. Many of the old parts I loved from the first and second season are gone. One of them being her friends, Francie and Will...and I know it sounds sadistic, but I miss seeing Sydney have to balance out her homelife and her worklife. I don't know. I just thought that that was one of the themes to the show originally, and now it's no longer there. Eh. I don't know what I'm talking about. Haha.

To me, I kind of always thought she was bad. I mean, when Vaughn married her, I truly did suspect the whole parallel to Jack and Irina. And it happened. I don't know - maybe it was just me. I just kind of knew that there was something wrong about her. There had to be. All the other female characters on the show (with the exception of Syd's sister...so far) seem to have some sort of darkside to them.

Nope, we have no clue who the head honcho of the Covenant is/was. I want to know who he/she is! And I really want to know who the heck was sitting at that table when Syd as Julia killed Ryan's brother. Cause I swear, from the profile, one of 'em looked like Vaughn. It's the nose...

Sydney being (more like tried to be) a regular girl was one of the biggest reasons I liked the show so much. Yeah, she'd go on missions and kick ass... but then she'd come home and Francie would be there, burning the turkey or Will would be kicking Francie's ass in a game. She had a semblance of a normal life and now they're just trying to get back to that. But she doesn't seem to know anyone outside of the CIA/APO. So it's not really THAT normal. She doesn't have her best friends anymore. And having Nadia live with her isn't going to really cut it.

I think JJ and crew actually thought Lauren was going to be well received. But then they realized they were wrong. So they did the only thing they could, they made her bad. And they were bad at making her bad. I mean, c'mon... the girl was calling and talking to her Covenant handler while she was in the JTF!!! And whenever she was in her bad spy mode, she'd wear all black and like, 10 pounds of eyeliner. She was just horrible. And what I hated most about her is that they keep/kept comparing her to Irina. Lauren is/was nowhere near Irina. Her betrayal of Vaughn doesn't even come CLOSE to the betrayal of Jack.

Yeah, I really don't understand why they created APO... having her work at the CIA was fine. They're doing the exact same thing.

As for tonight's episode... eh. It was lacking. I think I'm almost at the point where JACK isn't even able to salvage the show for me. They really need to figure out where they're heading with all of this and get there fast. I really HATE having these eps self-contained. And the preview for next week's ep? Wow... looks like it's going to suck. Who the heck came up with that idea?

Post 149 by Watch Out Sark (http://sd-1.net/index.php?showtopic=37867&st=140) is exactly how I feel.

SystemDamaged, season one is definitely awesome. It was when Sydney used to have a life, she used to not cry all the time, and the attraction and chemistry between Sydney and Vaughn was actually enjoyable to watch.

Yeah, they definitely never left questions unanswered with the first and second seasons. They were answered, but always led to something of a larger magnitude - that's what I loved about it! Gah. It just drives me insane how they haven't even MENTIONED Rambaldi within the last couple episodes or so. Right - at home with Nadia isn't the same as at home with Will and Francie. As for Lauren, eh...I don't know. I think it's pretty debatable whether she was intended to be bad or not. I mean, even back when Sydney was attempting to recover her memory, Lauren was in her dream, fighting her. Granted, they said that it didn't necessarily mean she had something to do with it, but...it could've been anyone else. Oh hahaha I know - I love how they make her all 'dark' when she's undercover. laugh.gif

Exactly! I think Abrams just wanted to reinvent the scene again, as he always does. Still, they could've just moved offices since the one from season three was kind of...destroyed. Regardless, they didn't exactly have to send her to a whole other branch...

*Sigh* I know, I know. Jack's always been one of my favorite characters aside from Sydney (but even now, I'm starting to get irked by her). Even Sark - he really contributed to the show; I miss him. Oh is that an Alias forum? *Gets excited* I'll go check it out.

Oh yeah - next week...I don't even know if I want to watch it. It might make me stop watching the season for awhile altogether. I was really excited, too, because we weren't going to get that many breaks between episodes now since they started the season later. Gah.

Ahh! I have to go back and watch it. I suppose I just didn't pay attention to the people that well.

I just still can't believe they completely set aside the Covenant - I mean, I'm sure they're still progressing in their evil ways...gah.

The Liberty Village episode sucked. The S/V relationship and the whole Santa Barbara thing made me want to gag.

And tonight's episode looks weird. People are saying it's like the Conscious of season four. Pfft.

I don't even know why I'm going to watch it. The only good thing from the preview was that Syd was pointing a gun at Vaughn... I just wish she'd shoot in him the face but I know that won't happen.

I don't know what the hell happened to this show. I feel like watching The Simple Life rather than Alias... and that's just... damn.

And Jennifer Garner actually got a SAG award for her perfomance in season three.. WHAT THE HELL. All she did last season was cry and cry and cry some more.

I didn't see the episode from last night - I completely forgot to tape it. My friend did luckily. Heh. How about I was reading an article somewhere about season four, saying that the writers are trying to make it more like season one...with Sydney, Jack, Dixon, and Sloane all working together again. Umm...there was a big difference between those two time periods. Frickin' idiots...

You didn't miss much. Last night's episode blew chunks. It just basically reiterated Sydney's fears of betrayal by Jack, Vaughn, and Sloane. We already knew that... I don't need a whole episode focused on that.

And this in no way compared to Conscious. Pfft.

I feel like the S/V relationship is being too forced. UGH.

The only good thing from last night's episode was Dixon. He is aweeeesome.

Seriously, I don't know if I can watch this show anymore. Unless there's lots and lots and lots of Jack and the death of Vaughn. And even the appearance of Sark won't be helping much. And that's just... really disappointing.

And after last night's episode, I've come to realize I don't really like Jennifer Garner as an actress. Sure, the show is focused on her character, but I don't think she carries the show. I think Victor Garber and Ron Rifkin do. I don't know, just watching her acting last night... it kind of sucked. And she makes the same face whenever she's crying and that face is REALLY annoying. And it's just... ugh. It's kind of sad, cause I really like Jennifer.

I was tempted to watch The Simple Life instead of Alias and that's just... crazy.

Okay, in a desparate attempt to save this thread, I just wanted to know what other "Alias" viewers thought of "Echoes" last night. I liked the fact that they brought Anna and Sark throb.gif back. Hehe. And...the episode was actually not self-containing. They finally brought Rambaldi up again. Sheesh. It's about time. Hmm...and it ended in a cliffhanger! Although the previews kind of ruin it. ermm.gif Hmm...too bad it looks like she's going to live. rolleyes.gif Hmm. I don't know. I guess I don't like Nadia too much. Oh well. Haha.

I hadn't been watching the episodes regularly, so when I watched the season finale, I had no clue what was going on.

But boy, that cliffhanger was freaking awesome. I literally jumped when they got hit. I can't wait to find out who Vaughn is. I just hope his story won't be disappointing. And that JJ will give us answers.

Oh, and when I saw Irina.. EEEK! Sucks that I didn't watch the episode when she first returned. I'd been unspoiled so I had no clue she was going to turn up. But I'm afraid that'll be the last we see of her. :(

Gosh.. great ending. I stopped watching Alias after season 3 because for some reason I just became really agitated whenever I'd watch the episodes. I came back for the last season (mid-season) and everything started to pick up so nicely. I'm glad the show went out on a high note.

Jack's sacrifice was devestated, but so wonderfully done. Tom's was so sad. :( Irina finally got her dues, thankfully.

Yeah I really lost my interest around the same time. Wow. We have the same taste in TV shows. happy.gif
