any one had special moments while eating durian? in HK when I was eating a durian pie, this cocasian was sitting next to me and he looked so awkward. it was so funny. any moments with you people?

I had a durian tree in my backyard in the Philippines. mellow.gif It smelt really bad once it started ripening.

man isnt that dangerous?... like they ripen ad fall down and crack your head openn... and not to mention the freakin spikes on them...

I love durian. It's so good and creamy. Haha actually I love almost all of the tropical fruits because I live in Malaysia.

But with the candy, one time i offered some to my friend, and she just popped into her mouth, and then like 2 secs later shes all BLEGH and starts spitting.

Seriously though, the ice cream is sooo good =D It's one of the few ice creams that actually DO taste alot like the fruit. Strawberry ice cream doesn't taste like strawberries to me. Pssh.

Anyway, I don't know why peopel hate it so much. Yea the smell does sorta smell funny, but I like it. Although my breath will smell like it for the rest of the day, it's sort of like eating garlic or something. The smell remains, even after brushing your teeth lol.

YAY DURIAN ICE CREAM!

I miss them =( I haven't gone to an Asian grocery store in ages...

I don't know. I'm from Hong Kong and I don't really see its appeal. My aunt loves it a lot though, same with my dad.

Of course...it would help to try it...

What pisses me off is the ignorance some people have. I was watching Fear Factor, and they had to eat either durian or hundred-year-old eggs <--(so good). Everyone totally freaked out...

Geez, get out there and stuff some raw fish in your mouth and GET OVER IT.

Well, my friend brought one in for a social studies project once...
and me and her were the only asian poeple in our class...

so my teacher cuts it open.. and everyone was freaking out and how it smelt...
and then he did it all wrong... and then he gave everyone a LITTLE piece to try...
and me and my friend were the only people to eat it...

And yeah, it smells lke crap.

Durian does have this smell...........which some ppls love and others hate it.

I don't like Durian, my frd gave me durian candy once, and I was like @__________@" erk....this doesn't taste good.....

In HK, the durian's smell is really strong!!! But in Australia where I live, they don't smell at all for some reason................................I don't plan on eating durian again.....

This situation of durian is just like stinky tofu. Some ppls that like eating stinky tofu thinks it smells nice, where the smell is suffocating to other ppls! I haven't eaten stinky tofu, I don't even want to go near the stand!

im a local here in malaysia so when durian season comes, my dad will go buy lotsa durians from those lil stalls by the road. once, he bought so much and we couldn't finish it and it started to smell bad. blink.gif yea..

yes, durian has a rather weird aftertaste. thats why i always bring my mints whenever its durian season. =] biggrin.gif

durian's lovely!! if anyone of u's from SINGAPORE go to this cakeshop called DINO Cake House & Cafe. They have the BEST "Durian Well" & "Durian Cake" i HAVE to go there everytime i go back and alot of critiques that've been there thinks it's amazing.

OMG it's the best!!!!!! Have you tried the Durian ice cream? Tastes so good. And I've even had a Durian slushy thingy.. It's like blended durian with ice.. It's amazing! I'm obsessed with durian as well! <3

i love durian,
but then he said it tasted like onions and pickles and i took another bite..and it did taste like onions and pickles..but then it turned back to good ol durian.
iuno. it was weird, but really good =D

one time i ate durian ice cream and me nd my sis and her friends were sitting in a room with the door closed and the windows and we were playing a game when i had to burp and i kept it in but a few seconds later they were ewww what's that smell??!?!? and i started cracking up haha =]
