a little something... just read it.

The curtains dropped
As the lights dimmed
And the room fell silent.
The world pulsed and moved
Fading into darkness
The downfall still not over.
Images flashed through my mind
An infinite, unforgettable synapse.
Moments from long ago
A neverending cycle of deceit and lies.

I rose higher
Ascending into the clouds
To avoid the nuclear winter.
The midnight bell tolling
As bombs fell, demolishing my hopes and dreams
The awkward silence lingered.

Memories of high school
Blood red ink spilling out onto the paper
Always managing to form that perfect "F"
I was a failure
And everyone refused to catch me as I fell.
There was an image of her smiling
Then one of her leaving.
Love letters morphing into brutal messages of hate
As I disappeared into the abyss.
Rioters holding wooden torches
Burning with passion, burning with hate
Deception ultimately coming to an end.

Lying in the hospital bed
Helpless and vulnerable
With her at my side.
Her bloodshot eyes were a clear reminder
That the war has just begun.

Ah, the comparison of war and human emotion.

Well done.

Wow, Joe. Just.. wow. Typically, I don't like pieces on violence, war, and the like, but this is something - memories and emotions touch the heart. I really like it.

<3 My favorite verse.

This was so deeply moving, Joe. We need more writing from you.
