hahahahahaha

john proctor was a pedophile too, maybe it comes with the name?
he was like 60 and abigail was 11 and they had an affair, so in the play the crucible they changed it to him being in his 40s and her being 17 for the play so it wouldnt be so gross

and billy joel just married a 23 year old, but his names not john so it doesnt matter

Umm...John Smith and Pocahontas really weren't all that intimate. Disney just manipulated the facts of the story to produce a...well...really fantastic movie. Pocahontas is off the hizzle.

And yes, Pocahontas did marry John Rolfe (when she was older). He took her off to England or something. She probably converted to the Anglican and died in the English countryside. (I've forgotten the true story.)

Did you know that in Alice in Wonder land there's drug use? But you can't really tell.

That's because CRACKHEADS sent the idea to Disney.

I was watching this one thing on how basically ALL of the disney animated moves are drug related. _dry.gif It was funny though. lol

but back then, if you were 10, you might've had to have an arranged marriage. so this is like true love. i mean here in ny, a teacher made love to her 12-year-old student because they truly were in love. now that shes out of jail they're getting married! he waited for her!

In the legally blonde 1 movie, when the perming girl stated that her dad married a woman the same age as her. THATZ SICK.

Yes, that's how it happened. Actually, the truth is.. Pocahontas was 11-12 years old, naked, AND bald. YES.. BALD.

But the good thing about the Disney version is that it rekindled the fire of the famous story of John Smith and it made people want to know more about the Virginia Company and whatnot. Although people were tricked, it made people get interested more in the history and Pocahontas and John Smith became popular names once again.

Personally, I liked the Disney one better.

"Paint with all the colors of the wind..." ...*slurs the rest of the words and trails off*

Pocahontas also died of small pox while she was in England.

rofl guys

ok i read the true story

poccahontas wasnt intimate with john smith at all. she just saved his life when she was 12 (by getting in the way when he was to be executed). native american tradition was that john smith had to be given to poccahontas as a ward - that way she could vouch for him and whatnot. john smiths job was to make her toys n shit. then eventually he became accepted by her father as a son. they released him.

their tribe traded with the europeans for a while, and then the chief was accused of stealing amunition from the english, so they tricked poccahontas into boarding the ship, where they then proceeded to hold her captive for over a year. she was 16 at the time and she was raped and abused until they sold her to john rolfe. he treated her like a good wife, and she converted to christianity. they had a son named tom rolfe. poccahontas died at 22 from small pox (some say pneumonia)

Their historical relationship was not a romantic one.

(I've forgotten the true story.)

yeah..they weren't like, in love or something.
and she did die in england, only cause she wasn't immune to diseases there.

Nekked,Oct 13 2004, 10:15 AM] did you guys know that poccahontas was 12 when she met john smith? And John Smith was 38 at the time.

Girls in the old days were set up to marry around the age of fourteen with guys who were like in their late 20s to 40s.
I'm just glad that things have changed.
'Cause I'm fourteen right now!

I hear ya! Who wants to marry some smelly old dude when you're just starting your teens?

He didn't look any 24 years old, John Smith looked 30-35. And they're not liars, they were trying to make a good movie. That and a 12 year old with a 30 year old is a bit too Michael Jackson for Disney.

if they just wanted to make a "good movie" they could of randomly chosen an indian girl & some white dude from england to make a "good movie". they didnt have to take poccahontas's story & eff it up ... _dry.gif

Disney likes choosing heroines with some notoriety, i.e. Mulan. So some random Indian (pinch.gif let's be PC here, shall we) and some random white dude from England wouldn't've worked. _dry.gif

hahahahahaha

john proctor was a pedophile too, maybe it comes with the name?
he was like 60 and abigail was 11 and they had an affair, so in the play the crucible they changed it to him being in his 40s and her being 17 for the play so it wouldnt be so gross

and billy joel just married a 23 year old, but his names not john so it doesnt matter

oh, and the people back in salem in the witch trials were all on lsd  happy.gif  the rye went bad that year  biggrin.gif

In "The Crucible", they never had an affair. It was made up. But she was 12 and he was older.

::I learned that like 2 months ago when we read and watched it. blink.gif

Oh and that drug thing hasn't been proved yet.

i know, its basically the same thing as in poccahontus- they moved the ages closer and changed the relationship. except differently.

and it may not have been porved, but its quite likely

yeah I knew she was WAY younger than him.....but little kids dont know these things lol. and yes alice in wonderland hahaha I watched that recently.

Disney movies are screwed over. lol jk I actually like disney movies....its just when you get to deep into everything like poccahantus being under aged or there being drugs in wonderland then it just kind of ruins it. haha it is kinda funny though. happy.gif

yea there was never a love thing going on between john smith and pocahontas. but disney always needs a love story so they made pocahontas older and john smith younger.

another random fact to go along with the "random fact" topic: did you know the pilgrims were cannibles? thats gross.
