i say its not.. you may do alot of work.. but no, its not a sport. Cause if cheerleading is a sport then marchin band might as well be because we did a hell of a lot more than the freakin cheerleaders in band!! lol the football team would even wait till the band went inside (when it was raining) so they wouldnt look like pansies! yeah i know.. we were cool! haha

I dunno...when I think of a sport I think of games and matches and scoreboards, and record or what not; but if you think of it that way, Cheerleading has competitions as well...so...

I'll say yes, it is a sport.

The cheerleaders that COMPETE... then i consider it a sport. But if your just ra-ra-ing on the sidelines... then no. Lol. Because its a lot of work when you compete... just imagine throwing a body into the air twenty feet above you day in day out and you have to do it ON count... and then dance, and formations, and your body has to be tight at ALL times...

Now do that all at once. LOL. It really is a lot. So, if you're school competes, then it should be considered a sport.

omg its SO a sport! cheerleadin practices r pretty exhausting too, we have to train our muscle and everything. and the school categorize it as a sport! in fact, cheerleadin s one of the most difficult sport. i heard that ppl r decidin whether or not to put it into the olympics

I consider it a sport... This is the defintion of sports:

sport:

Noun
1. a. Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. b. A particular form of this activity. 2. An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively. 3. An active pastime; recreation

If you've ever been to a cheerleading competition, it IS a physical activity with rules that you must have certain moves. It is often undertaken competitively because they DO have competitions, and you have to condition your muslces and everything for it too.

Like someone else said up there, if you count golfing as a sport, then why shouldnt cheerleading be too?
