QUOTE(DisneyPrincessKate @ Sep 24 2004, 12:35 PM) To kill a mockingbird by Harper Lee. It's a great book. YES! How to Kill a Mocking Bird is so good. It's not even aobut killing mockingbirds! Anywho, if you're into rehab-suicidal sotries, try Cut By Patrica McCormick. Awesome book. It's about a girl who cut herself. If you're mature enough, read Tithe By Holly Black. Great book if you're into faeries and Asians with Natural Blonde hair. Lol. Lots of cussing ( they say f*** in almsot every page) and two rape scenes./ Grwat plot, great story. |

The Catcher and the Rye A Clockwork Orange (it's short, but the language might be hard to decipher. Amazing read though, and there is also a movie you could watch to go along with it) Farenheit 451 |

Flowers for Algernon was a pretty good book.
I also recommend the Chronicles of Narnia series ( the whole seven; not just The Lion, The Witch, And the Wardrobe. ), they've gathered me some lot of AR points, and kept me busy for a while. :] As well as Harry potter of course, they drag in many points as well. Good luck on your AR. :] |

Hey, sweet ![]() Ohhhhhhhhh whaaaat. I'm gonna see that mos def. ![]() Chuck Palahniuk books are freakin crazy. Invisible Monsters was good and interesting, but it drove me nuts how it's like a collage of events. It doesn't tell the story in chronological order. It starts off like a Tarantino film. Pretty much the whole thing is about a hot model like chick who gets shot and is horribly disfigured and she's on a road trip with a transexual and an ex boyfriend and they tour houses that are for sale and steal any prescription drugs they find and stuff. It's weird, but there's more to it. Choke is crazy too but I'm too lazy to describe it now lol. They both involve sex and stuff too for all those erotic people out there. Oh yeah and I almost forgot, I heard they're adapting Invisible Monsters into a movie also, and possibly Choke |

Wowww. There are 4 pages of topics and you can't find a book to read? Check these threads out and pick out a title that seems interesting:
http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8298 http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...topic=2000&st=0 http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...topic=4050&st=0 http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48574 http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=79985 http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=92833 http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...opic=51936&st=0 http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...opic=56436&st=0 I suggest reading White Fang by Jack London, Loamhedge by Brian Jacques, Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke. And the Harry Potter books get you lots of AR points, if you haven't already done those. |

^Ew, Jack London. </3
I'm sorry, I just thought Call of the Wild was unbearably boring. Jack London shouldn't have been allowed to write. "The moose was killed by Buck." "Buck killed the moose." "Answering the call, Buck did." "Buck answered the call." -___- |

I bet you read Call of the Wild as study in class. It butchers the point of reading. If you read Jack London books for leisure, you get the message in a deeper way than just similes and metaphors and imagery.

I did, haha. But we actually had to tell why Buck answered the call and all that jazz. It was about "going back to his roots" or whatever. :snore:
But I read The Giver in class, and I thought it was excellent. |

^ Exactly the case here. We had to analyze that little poem at the beginning of the book, and about tracing back to his roots, which I found an extreme waste of time. But the book itself was amazing in my opinion, not as amazing as Whitefang, but pretty amazing.
![]() I'm going to read The Giver in class next year, and I've heard either "I hated it" or "I loved it". I read the first few chapters and thought it was kind of intriguing. |
