Different perspective [on cloning]

I was thinking today about the issue, and how it's basically religion vs. science.

And I thought about how the Bible lets Christians believe that God is an omniscient power who knows what you're going to do before it happens, and rules accordingly.

Therefore, if he knew everything was going to happen before it did, why wouldn't the natural discovery of cloning be any different? As well, the cultivation of cloning as a medical asset?

It'd be just another sin that he'd deal with when you get to Heaven, but that doesn't necessarily stop the process from happening does it?

This doesn't necessarily mean I support cloning, but I'm wondering what your thoughts on this point of view are.

Debate, my pretties!

What I'm wondering is that if God already knows it's going to happen, He's already forgiven us, correct?

Well, I am totally against cloning not only because it's not right for people to "play God" but also because each person is very different and, by cloning somebody, you take away a very important thing in a person's life. What would our world or lives be like if we were all exactly the same? BORING? MEANINGLESS? NO POINT? God made each and every one of us different for a certain reason and it's not our place to go changing that.

I understand what you're saying... the whole Religion vs. Science. But I think the main arguement doesn't really have so much to with whether or not God knew that it would happen. Are you trying to reference that point of view with the way people react to cloning? I think from a Christian standpoint one might argue that Yes, God knew it would happen, but that doesn't make it right. And true it would be yet another something that he would forgive us for. I think people often hear the word "clone" and think that it means we are trying to clone "whole" humans. Personally I think cloning organs for medical purposes would be a good thing, although I would have to stand against cloning "whole" humans. Has anybody ever seen that one Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. I think it's called 6 days or the 6th day? I think that moves along the lines of "what could go wrong with cloning" But I'm getting off subject now.. So I'm going to stop.. tongue.gif

Cloning isnt like playing God, cloning is just like everything else, taking genetic material that is already there and making something from it.

Not to mention cloning could never be totally successful. The clone could not have a soul without God giving it one. Animals who dont require souls still haven't had a successful clone.

I don't believe in cloning because it's messing with the natural order of nature... and nature is a b*tch.

It is not religion versus science. Religion and science work hand in hand. It is man's inability to accept that we are not living in a life seperate from God.

I just think that since because God knows everything, he knows about the possibility of cloning and maybe he put it there as a possibility for us to expand our horizons?

God is omniscient in the Christian religion..

has it expanded anything? no. God put it there to allow us to have free will. God is omniscient.

Okay -- so I'm wondering if it's for our free will...why is it so condemned?

it is condemned for fear of lost brothers and sisters for unknown practices which have come about via rebellion against God and thus works of satan, thats why.

I don't believe in humans "playing God" as that is quite impossible. I think cloning is something to try, but obviously will not be approved unanimously due to religious and ethical reasons. I believe it is ethical, and out of the rights of the people who disagree with cloning to stop others who think it's right to go through with the process (if that made any sense).

I had no idea cloning/stem cell research were rebellions against God.

How'd you come to that revelation?

lol anything not of God is evil. Now murdering babies to further research is a rebellion against God.
It is condemned because it is unknown that is all i was saying.
you dont taste fluids on the ground without knowing what it is. It is safer and healthier to not taste them.
