The article
The site Here's yet another attempt to stear this forum away from religion... Okay, not really. This has to do with morality and people seem to think the two go hand in hand. So anyway, do you think that PETA is making a big fuss over nothing, or PETA is absolutely awesome in their crusade to give a helping hand to mistreated fowls? (Debeaking is one of the most horrible thing I've ever seen) |

I heard this on the radio before. Like the workers would kick the chickens and choke them before killing them.
Who knows, maybe doing that to the fowls is making them extra tender. That's probably why KFC tastes soo good. ![]() Why doesnt PETA concentrate on something more important like kosher food? Cows bleed to death. Is that not un-moral? |

I'm not against eating meat or anything, but I don't want to think of my chicken choking while I'm taking a bite out of it!

I don't know...I wouldn't like the idea of the chicken to be tortured or whatever. It's a shame a chicken isn't used for anything other than food, really, so we can't actually put it to other uses. It would be more...morally correct? What am I saying, no it wouldn't. You'd still kill a chicken.
. . But I love chicken! Oh well, just don't torture it, I'll be fine =) |

Chickens are bred to not feel pain like normal chickens would. Not to mention chickens have no soul and exist primarily for food.

How do you know that chickens are bred not to feel pain? Is there an article on this I can read? I mean don't we feel pain when we bleed? As for souls. You can believe that animals do not have souls so that your conscience won't nick at you while you eat them, and that's just fine with me. And for them exist primarily for food. I do agree. |

They're annoying, untidy and loud. What other use do they have other than food? |

Okay. I just saw the video, and I think that the process is cruel. Peta shouldn't be promoting vegetarianism or veganism, they should be working to stop the process that's going on currently. How many people in the world eat meat daily? How many are vegetarians or vegans? By changing the process in which they are raised and slaughtered, PETA would be satisfied and the rest of the world has their meat, instead of a few just going without meat. I mean, if you become vegetarian - it's not going to stop the cow or chicken from being killed. Chickens beaks are still going to be clipped off, pigs are still going to be beat against the floor. I think PETA needs more intelligent people behind their campaign.

QUOTE(Pamela Anderson) KFC stands for cruelty. If KFC executives treated cats or dogs the way they treat chickens, they could go to prison on felony cruelty-to-animals charges. She's got a strong point, but it can easily be turned to the fact that we don't eat cats and dogs and it too is illegal to kill them. KFC is a FOOD/restaurant chain, keyword being food; meaning that either way the poor chickens are going to die. It is awful how they have treated them and so forth, but should we boycott something that isn't going to fight the cause? It can also be turned around saying that the people working at KFC and the owners didn't go out and abuse chickens themselves. I read somewhere that the company didn't even know that their suppliers were doing this to the chickens. I say we should prosecute the individuals that did this, and inform the nation on how the proper way of treating the animals is. We're fighting the wrong cause. QUOTE(uninspiredfae @ Sep 9 2004, 8:40 PM) But I'm not too sure about them and the Communist thing. Lost me there. |

I agree that maybe these people were too harsh on the chicken, but hey we're still going to eat them. There are more chicken on this Earth than there are humans.
And also, I don't like vegetarians who try to force meat eaters to stop eating meat. I don't see it happening the other way around. |

QUOTE(sikdragon @ Sep 17 2004, 6:28 PM) Humans are built different than chickens. Chickens brains are extremely small and dont have short term memory. But the point is they do have a brain as we do. Now their brains do work differently and will never have our intelligence, however, there are some humans who were born different. There are human babies who will never achieve the intelligence of a normal person nor understand emotions. What's the difference between them and those chickens? QUOTE And it's not that, i believe animals don't have souls because in the Bible it doesn't say he breathed life into them as he did men. Oh. I'm just confused as to why not..... QUOTE I say we should prosecute the individuals that did this, and inform the nation on how the proper way of treating the animals is. We're fighting the wrong cause. That's a good idea. QUOTE Lost me there. Oh, a while back someone said that PETA supports communism... or something like that. |

Chickens are inquisitive and interesting animals who are thought to be as intelligent as cats, dogs, and even primates. When in their natural surroundings, rather than on factory farms, they form friendships and social hierarchies, recognize one another, care for their young, and enjoy a full life of dust-bathing, making nests, roosting in trees, and more.
LOL chickens are SO smart ahhahahaha. Anyway... Plus, you may think that chicken an lower lifeforms are only good for meat, but that doesn't mean that they should be abused... does it? People who abuse (especially those who abuse chickens) have no life and need therapy for temper/violence control. |

Okay I'm a vegetarian, so I'm obviously against KFC chicken abuse. Even if you are not a vegetarian, you should at least feel some kind of compassion for other living things, or you are just a sick person. Everyone thinks Peta, vegetarians, vegans, etc. are hippies or weird or whatever. I don't think having a heart and wanting to live a healthy lifestyle is lame.

Beating the chickens to death is just sick. I don't think the people that abuse the animals would like it if they had to get beaten to death and get eaten up. Sure, chickens may be annoying and loud and all of that, but they have feelings too. I know that sounds stupid, but it's the truth.
