All my friends were like OO GET AMD ITS SO MUCH BETTER, and well I got me a Dual Core Extreme - I don’t think AMD even has technology close the Pentium Extreme Edition Dual Core w/ HT Tech . There top of the line Dual core is around the same speeds of the lowest Intel Dual Core last time I looked in on AMDs website.

I use to own an eMachines, so I spoiled myself.

Just outta curiosity, how much FPS do you get on a game like Battlefield 2? As for the AMD thing, there is nothing close to 3.0 GHz CPU for AMD, but I still think its a better processor for gaming.

I still say Pentium over AMD. Think about it; Alienware computers are one of the most high performance desktop PCs and they run P4. Besides, I've been Pentium-biased for years now.

It's all about application. Some processors are better for certain tasks. I go with AMD because it's cheaper, not because of any performance boost.

Yeah, I go with AMD because it's more bang for the buck. Although I am typing this on a P4 system.

I would have to say Intel Xeon is the most widely used processor in the server market. A dual Xeon is expensive but it is worth the money in the long run, especially in the game server department and the web hosting department. Most team speaks, game servers, and hosting companies are ran off of Dual Xeons. Intel still dominates the market, no dought about it. Its on a larger demand scale than AMD or PowerPC.

Well I found 581,000 hosts that offer Dedicated Xeon hosting, and only 215,000. This supports my post.

Most Xeon servers are less than a Opteron server anyway. $249(Dual Processor) a month HP Proliant Xeon Server, and $289(Dual) a month for a HP Proliant Single or Dual Opteron. Info from Voxrox.

Again, I note that Intel might have more market share, but more market share != better. And, as noted, the Opteron's market share is steadily climbing. Part of Intel's success is due to the fact that is has more leverage in the marketplace, but that could change, and it is not a good indicator of what is technologically better, just what can be marketed better.

Oh, I agree that's annoying as hell. But here's my point: If you think that he's being annoying, why do you find it acceptable to do virtually the same exact thing?
