What's the difference between being a couple and in love, and not officially a couple but still very much in love?
I know it might sound confusing but I'm going through a rather complicated relationship with my ex-boyfriend. He and I went out for 8 months, and we were very much in love. Sadly, we chose to break up because I had to move to Japan two months ago [I lived in California then]. Since we are both still young [I'm turning 16 this year and he's turning 17] we decided to not have a long distance relationship, so that we can see other people, and so that we won't have to experience the pain that long distance relationships bring. My ex-boyfriend said that it would be like a pause in our relationship.. a break... and when I see him again, we'll start off where we left off, or start fresh and new. But until then, we agreed to say friends. However, ever since I moved, nothing has changed. Even though we broke up, we still say "I love you" to each other on the phone [believe it or not he says it more than i do] and our feelings for each other have not changed at all. He still tells me everything and he insists that I call him everyday. In a way, I'm glad and appreciative that my ex-boyfriend did not just forget about me and started going out with other girls, but on the other hand, this is just like having a long distance relationship and it's stressing me out a little, though my boyfriend does not seem bothered by it at all. I guess what I'm trying to say is, what kind of relationship are we having? And what do you think would be best for us? To really act like we broke up [stop the "i love you's"] or should we just keep going as it is? I want what's best for us [him], and I still love him with all my heart. Hope it wasn't too confusing. Thanx a bunch. |

I think that ur ex b/f still has a little bit of feelings for you even though he didn't want a long distance relationship cuz he insists that you call him and that you guys talk everyday...I think he juss feeling insecure and juss wants to let you know how he truly feels and hopefully you still feel the same way. But my advice would be, if you aren't planning to move back to California anytime soon, I think you should let him know clearly that you just want to be FRIENDS and that it's healthy for both of you to see other people cuz u guys are still young and if it's meant to be then you guys will be together in the future.

Thanx a bunch. well said. not confusing at all i don't think the point of you/him saying its a break, has kicked into him yet, maybe he still has strong feelings for you and don't want to let it go that fast. How you said it, it seems like a long distance relationship, and yeah its stressful like you said eariler. Just the next time when you 2 talk tell him how you feel about the whole ordeal, but don't say it bluntly though. hopefully he'll understand and everythign will stay the same, friendship and all. |

hm if i were u, i will look at him like a best friend then... cuz somtimes ur bf is ur best friend, someone u confide in... and if u are stressed out u should tell him, whether u consider him ur bf, ur ex or best friend... honesty is the way to go

if both of you still have feelings for each other, why not try long distance relationship? it can work as long as you make it work. i mean since you guys still say i love you to each other and insists you to call him everyday so i dont think theres a difference it sounds like youre still together to me, do what your heart tells you to - just follow your heart

Yeah, just do the long distance relationship and if you ever see each other again, pick it off from there.

Why not just ask him? Ask him why he still says i love you.. and what he feels about a long distance relationsip. Also, ask yourself if you trust him enoug to HAVE a long dist. relationship. Tell him how you reall feel. it's really up to you. If you really love him, distance would be a pigment of your imagiantion. Just think of it this way: You'll miss him even more. And when you have that wonderful reunion, you'll see how much he misses you too.
