i like him because he exposes the awful truth. i share opinions with him. he defended marilyn manson (one of my favorite bands) in bowling for columbine, those are a few of my reasons.

I thought bowling for columbine was awful itself There is also truth behind the truth, in that movie, and also his other ones In bowling for columbine he neglected to show the footage of the head of the NRA explaining how they would be sued if they didn't continue with the convention due to contract after that little girl was shot. Most of his stuff is just bs opinion, and those statistics were not correct |

Bill O'Reilly didn't give Michael Moore the full monty on his show, but on a political talk radio station here in my city, Michael Savage ripped him apart in a debate about the credentials of each candidate, and how ridiculous the coined "Anyone but Bush" phrase has become.
"It's dispicable to know that your country has been reduced to a bandwagon so ignorant as 'Anyone but Bush'" |

QUOTE it's dispicable that bush is such a bad president that people will jump on that bandwagon. It's not so much that Bush is a horrible president, it's more about the uppity liberal media drilling moronic commercials into people's heads. And admit, as it's always been, the media is liberal, and the media creates bandwagons. Sad that so many people are cattle and will base their vote on what they hear/see on the television. I prefer my New York Times subscription, kthx. |

and it's pathetic that us liberals hate bush enough that we feel anyone would be better than him. it's not literal, obviously. |

I don't dislike Michael Moore or President Bush. None of us have any reason to dislike another human being based on difference of opinions and if you do, it seems pretty petty to me. I'm mostly disgusted at how ignorant Americans are (and yes, I'm American). I love this country but hate how stupid the people are. They're so unaware about everything; it's repulsive, really.

Micheal Moore... I like him, but if you want to have a fair opinion on Bush, you shouldn't base it off of Fahrenheit 9/11
What bugs me is that a lot of people are giving him crap about the title, and I don't think that's really the issue. And yes, the american public in general (hell, the human race in general) is very ignorant. |

Except for radio, the media is extremely liberal.
Some statistics: Roper Center for Freedom Forum -- 89% of Washington DC Journalists voted FOR Bill Clinton in 1992, compared to 43% of Americans overall. The study also found that 91% of DC Journalists describe themselves as "moderate to liberal", whereas only 2% describe themselves as "conservative". The Center for Media and Public Affairs showed that 85% of students graduating from Columbia UNiversity journalism (the best program in the country) describe themselves as liberal. In an analysis of 635 stories on gun control of ABC, CBS, CNN, and NBC, 242 were neutral, 36 opposed gun control, but 357 advocated more gun control. Of reports on the minimum wage, approximately 10% can be classified as wanting to keep the minimum wage or lower it, 40% as neutral, and 50% as wanting to raise the minimum wage. The liberal bias in the media IS THERE. The only Republican President to get mostly favorable media attention since Eisenhower has been yours truly, Mr. Dubya... who isn't a real Republican anyway. |

QUOTE(loseronaisle5 @ Aug 22 2004, 5:29 PM) here's one good reason: I will kick your ass. what a lame ass reason. this is a place to debate. anyways...yea, i dont like michael moore...he says that his movie was 100% truth...well, there was some truth...but there were definitely opinions and bias mixed in....all with one purpose: to bash on bush. i just cant stand his radical stands over stuff like this...it almost seems his whole purpose is to just get famous by trying to stand out from the crowd. (but this is only my opinion, i dont wanna argue bout it) cant wait till this comes out, maybe it'll show americans how stupid the fat bastard really is (and no, i dont hate him just because of his 9/11 documentary...): http://www.michaelmoorehatesamerica.com/ |

The New York Times is only very slightly liberal. It is probably one of the more centrist publications -- hwich is why it is used by the Senate and House in their testimony so much.

Actually, I confused the New York Times with the New York Post, but the NYT can still have some conservative stuff in it. At least it tries to be fair...... .....But still....the media lets itself be controlled by right-wingers. For example, during the 2000 election, inflammatory stories were seen and heard left and right. They make up lies..."Al Gore's a Liar." Then, they repeat it. Then they push it into the mainstream media..."Tall Tales: Is What We've Got Here A Compulsion to Exaggerate?" I got that from the New York Times by the way. |

The media is liberal, except for talk radio (which not doesn't get as many listeners ). You're just singling out specific articles to make the NYT look conservative, but it's a liberal paper (I remember seeing one paper where almost every single article had some form of "BUSH IS BAD" statement in it). So are most news programs (with the exception of Fox News, which I'll admit is to the right of other news programs). The media doesn't (or shouldn't) make anything up, especially make up lies. Polliticians bend the truth and lie. John Kerry for example, saying he was in Cambodia on Christmas Eve, then when the government said he wasn't, he claimed he was only "near" Cambodia. |

If you remember, before September 11th, Bush's approval rating was consistently in the low-40s ... MOST news sources would have many articles saying Bush was bad during that time, because that's what most people believed... In 2002, the media RARELY attacked Bush.
