recently, the topic that has caused much ado in my thoughts is exorcism. now i've watched alot of "driving away of demons" from humans in recent home videos as well as researched to enough extent to form a thesis. Exorcism, is somewhat real yet fake. the "demons" in the victims body could somewhat be a "demon" in some real cases but in some cases its just a bunch of hoodlums. i need an extra opinions on exorcism to concluded a conclusion. what is your opinion on this catholic ritual?

My thoughts? Well, I'm an atheist, so I don't really believe in demons nor people getting possessed by them. Is that what you're asking?

its more than a "catholic ritual", I know a couple protestant preachers who practice exorcism.
Im a Christian, and I believe in exorcism, though rarely seen. |

"Demons" is a broad term. Demons could be beings that possess people or it could be the bad characteristics of oneself. Exorcism could be just a cleansing or renewal of a person.
I don't believe in it. I think people just make excuses for their wrong doings. For example, Person A kills Person B because Person B cheated on Person A. People find out, Person A blames the Devil for possessing him and that the Devil made him do it. It's just like the Salem Witch Trials, people accuse others as witches because they detest them and want them to be trialed and finally killed. Exorcism is used to cast such "spirits or Demons" from a person. This ritual makes the person feel free of sin and pure. People do sins and they just blame it on the Devil or these ethereal beings. |

yeah people sometimes say the devil made me do it. but possession only occurs to people that expose themselves to it. demons do exist and in the past have been used to describe bad behavior. exorcism is real. it is very real. My father personally has felt the presence of demons and plead the blood of Jesus sending them back to hell. my grandmother has been personally under attack by demons. there are so many things going on, you have no idea.

I don't know much about exorcism, but here are my opinions:
Excorcism, if they are really posessed by demons, could be real. If they are just really messed up in the mind, it could be easily seen as therapy. |

well im asian and my grandmother watches alot of chinese shows/movies and most of them have people possessed in one way or another, my grandma thinks those things are true but im not sure what i think about it

This is kind of off-subject, but the movie, The Exorcist was based on a boy who was possessed and had an exorcism in the late forties.

i just saw the new exorcist movie
& it made me happy i am an agnostic & don't believe that could actually happen. quite frankly, i think the whole idea of "being possessed" is silly. but it makes for good movies. (or, at least one anyways.) |
