I just saw a trailer for the movie: 'Hero' I don't know if it's out in theaters yet or if they are just going to put it on DVD. But I have already seen it though; It's a movie that's in Chinese. My boyfriend has it on DVD... it's really good. Jet Li is in it, and I think the girl from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon? _smile.gif I was just wondering...

(1) How many of you have seen the Chinese version of 'Hero'?
(2) How many of you are going to see it when it comes out?

//EDIT// Did some research and found that it will be coming out on August 20??

I want to see it when it comes out cause' there's no chinese rental place around here. I heard it was an "artsy" film so unless you're into visual arts than you're not going to like it very much. But It looks good to me.

:cry:SOOO many people said it was BORING!! (which... it really might be)
But it's worth the rent! and the DVD! Because you get to see the amazing CHINA scenary

WOAH august?! i watched it last year in the theaterz. BUT i never knew it was in chinese so i went in and had to read the japanese subtitlez and i suck at reading kanji... so i kept on asking my friend and i think i pissed him off tongue.gif

Quentin Tarantino movies come out on DVDs over where you live, Leeza? blink.gif Whoa...that only happens to Disney movies. Meh but anyways, I want to see it pretty badly.

Yup I saw it. Zhang yi mo is a pretty darn good director. The movie has a really good atmosphere and it's worth a watch.

i saw the chinese version last year? i think and i'd have to say that i'm a bit disappointed. it was slow& had so many flashbacks here and there that i became really confused by the actual storyline. the ending and certain special effects werent too bad, but the entire thing? kinda a flop

But Hero is not directed by quentin. Its director is Zhang Yimou, who is quite famous in China.

Yeah I've seen the Chinese version of it. I like the fighting scenes. Woohoo. Lol. My friend has it on DVD. I also found out that Shaolin Soccer will be coming out next year. Anyone know that movie? Lol. happy.gif

i've seen that movie, but i did sorta get confoosed wit the different colors and stuff. lol i didnt kno til my dad said it was the different assasins telling they're version of the story

over all it was an awesome movie. i thought so, i might go see it wit my homeboi.

Well, you can still see the movie, I mean, who concentrates fully on subtitles? laugh.gif They do make them for a reason, and trust me, you can see them both at the same time.

ohh i saw that movie in Chinese.. (i didn't see all of it but whatever) when i saw the preview for it, i was like "hey.. haven't i seen this movie before..??" haha then it occured to me that i have seen it, but they just want everyone else to see it i guess.. blink.gif

I have the chinese verison with english subtitles. It a great movie only because of the special effects. I don't like the story line thought. Kind of confusing in the end.

Thanks to my multiregion DVD player I was able to get the director's cut a while ago. I was very impressed. Action wasn't as good as crouching tiger, but I thought the story was far better. I also loved the cinematography. All the colors were great. Anyone else think the lake water fight scene kicked ass?

i just firgured out that i have the chinese version because my uncle gives us dvds from the philippines everytime he comes here. my little brother and i are watching it right now, but its hard to understand because its in chinese and the subtitles are in tagalog (filipino). i cant really read or speak that much filipino but i can understand it

no. that's just uncut/unsubbed anime from japan or other Asian countries. there's anime that Funimation or other companies have "subbed" or made English by hiring English voice actors and editing it for U.S. or European audiences.

i saw hero already... the chinese version... this movie came out like 2 or 3 years ago... in asia at least... or china, hehehe, we borrowed it from our friends. hehehehe. it's pretty good but kinda boring...

1) i haven't seen the chinese one but i was going to get it on dvd before it came out here... but i heard it was going to be released uncensored and uncut here so i thought i should just wait.

what i read is he wanted to bring it over so he made a deal with miramax to pay to bring it over, advertise, distribute it, etc. but apprentally miramax wanted to cut and edit it to make it more "american" (like what they did when iron monkey was brought over by tarantino) so it would make more money, but told quentin if they could use his name in the advertisements they would release it uncut and unedited (that way people would be like "oh i love tarantino so i should go see this"). so even though he didn't want to do that he thought it would be a better idea then to have an edited version released. just what i heard.

isn't that comming out this friday? i saw another chinese movie called "Hero" but it was on a VCD. It was about this guy who lost this parents and he wanted revenge, i wonder if thats the older version of the new one comming out

the version ur talkin bout isnt the one thats being releasted here. this one is wit jet li and how hes an assasin. the one ur talkin bout is like wit ekin chung or somethin like that.
