Almost everyone I have met or just people on the street.. they treat my like I am satans child.
I am the single most worst thing in the world.
They give me horrible looks, they dont treat me the same as eveybody else, they talk about me behind my back.. etc..

I dont really care if they hate me or just dislike me, Im used to it.

I used to be scared of Goths because of the way they dress, until I associated myself with one in sophomore year at a Houston Area Model United Nations conference. She was so inspiring and I literally hung on to her every word. It lead me to think that many Goths are poetic and so intelligent and unique that they have to express themselves in ways that the average person can't understand...

Goths dont listen to just those bands. Each goth likes there own music.
It could be country, classical, rock, etc.
I like rock.. and most of those band you listed. But I have a friend who likes classical the most.

People treat anyone who looks different like that. Don't make it sound like you're such a loser. Because you're pprobably not. I get dirty looks ALL THE FRIGGIN TIME. And I usually just wear jeans and a cute shirt.

But my opinion on 'goth': It was a religion in the medieval ages. Very much similar to the Christian one, though very short lived. They battled many wars and eventually lost, turning their cities to ruins. They had nothing to do with rock music, black clothes/makeup, or the devil.

But what we now call 'goth' I suppose it would be a slang term. I don't get why people label themselves like that. 'I accept who I am'. Right.. whatever. If you REALLY accept who you are, then you wouldn't be labeling yourself like that. So someone listens to 'gothy' music, wears black, and whatever. I wear black, listen to all kinds of music, and whatever. Doesn't make me a goth. But nowadays people associate goths with drugs, alcohol, darkness, and hating everyone.

I think it's SO STUPID when people go around saying they live in 'the underground' and that they hate everything and all that other crap. *cough*posers*cough* They talk about themselves in the third person and never smile. Why can't they just say they like nightime, don't really like how their lives are going, and smile when they're happy?

Unless they have good reasons. You can like black, you can hate everything, you can do drugs, you can talk about yourself in the third person, and all that other crap. But if you label yourself, you've lost my respect.

And quite honestly, if someone else was to label you something...you would throw a fit and say labelling is wrong.

Stereotypes are catagories, and catagories dissolve originality and creativity, for no one fits a stereotype as perfectly as the single person it was based upon.

Actually, there are as many suicidal people in other stereotypes as there are in the category of Gothic. Consider this:

'Gothic' girls would commit suicide based upon a love gone wrong, a life tradgedy or so on..

'Normal' girls would commit suicide for attention, or because they weren't 'popular' or 'recognized' enough..

Sort of makes things vapid, now.

I do realize, though, that this isn't true about all people, and that the focus was mainly on females...it matters naught.

there was this kid in my class and his name was nick. at the beginning of the year when i first saw him i thought eww what a gross kid.he looked goth. he alwyas wore black had super long hair liked all the "goth bands" but he wasn't goth. then i found out he got honours, was super smart, had a great sense of humor, is an excellent soccer player...etc. point is i labelled him right away and it turns out that he was one of my good friends. i felt so bad that i labelled him in the beginning but it taught me a lesson
