okie. i just finished watching the village and i must say that i am disappointed. i thought it was gonna be scary as hell but it wasnt. the "monster" looked like a damn porcupine. everytime a "scary" part happened, me and my friend would laugh.

at the end of the movie, people booed and this guy screamed out "that sux!" i said wtf. people were standing outside to go see it and i was all "damn, i want my money back!"

wut yall think of the movie?

hmm not as much of a horror/scary movie as other things. it seems more like a side plot in this story....

which is strange being as they marketed it as something scary as hell.

by the way, the scariest part is in a commercial, so....

not all that scary anymore........

i think i could make a better movie than that.... oh well
there's like only one good part in the whole movie... when the guy falls in hole....

it could have been way scarier... there trying to hard now..

I HATED THE VILLAGE!!! It made me feel stupid...lol. I thought it was gonna be some horror film with lot's of death and blood. This movie reminds me a lot of the book "The Giver", because they both involve isolation from the rest of mankind.

What makes me mad is the creatures weren't even real, and that the blind girl didn't really seem blind. What is up with her saying "I see your color"?

The creatures were the Village Elders trying to keep the villagers in.
Because the Village is a Wildlife preserve. And they're really living in the present.

- Chinkieeyedpnoi

The elders didn't GET the people INTO the preserve, everyone in that village had been living there since BEFORE the preserve was a preserve, and BEFORE cars and telephones, the outside world had changed over time while they lived in complete isolation, so therefore, they stayed that way, looking like pilgrims.

Anyway, this movie had one of the worst endings in my opinion. It was one of those endings where you and your friends would make up after seeing a movie and joke about it. "Hey you know what would've been funny? If it turned out they were living in a forest preserve!" But it actually happened, and it wasn't funny at all _dry.gif Although I did like the angles and perspective of the camera thoughout the movie. However, that does not make up for the CRAP storyline. Also, the commercials were VERY VERY misleading.

I think it was a total waste of money, and sorry if I ruined the entire movie for some people, chinkieeyedpinoi already did so tongue.gif

QUOTE(aZn_hApPy05 @ Jul 30 2004, 8:45 PM)
okie. i just finished watching the village and i must say that i am disappointed. i thought it was gonna be scary as hell but it wasnt. the "monster" looked like a damn porcupine. everytime a "scary" part happened, me and my friend would laugh.

at the end of the movie, people booed and this guy screamed out "that sux!" i said wtf. people were standing outside to go see it and i was all "damn, i want my money back!"

wut yall think of the movie?

lmao yes it DID look like a porcupine. ah that made me laugh.

went to see it last night with my boyfriend- disappointing indeed. i mean it was a good twist, i didnt think it would turn out that way..but its just that..ah heck, dudes dont waste your money wait until it comes out on HBO in a year or so.

my bf was so disappointed, that he wanted to catch the 8:30 showing of collateral.(yeah we sneaked in mawhaha) i must say,it was 100 times better.

I heard it sucked, but I still want to see it so I can form my own opinion.

I'd go see any move with Adrien Brody, though. blush.gif

aww man, all i've been hearing is bad reviews for this movie. I thought it was gonna be scary and was looking forward to seeing it... but based on what everyone has written here and what some of my friends said, it doesn't sound that scary... i mean, one of my friends said they LAUGHED at certain parts. =\ i guess i won't watch it in theaters then.

It was so funny, because me and my friends were all hyped up for a scary movie. Then it started with people talking with big words, then a little scary part. Then some more boring parts. Then, a WTF moment (I had to ask my friend wth was going on). So.. yeah.

"Worst Movie Ever"

It worst then the movie: SIGNS by the same director. Only one scary scene and that was the part where the red creature pass by the watch tower.

eh i`m not a big fan of horror movies, i prefer comedy. ^-^. everybody that watched it said it was a BAD MOViE.. and that the monsters are giant porcupines. lol. [the commercials make it look freaky too...]

it was a wonderful love story . . . but as a horror movie? yes, it sucked. . . i only jumped twice, and the other people i was with only jumped once . . . i almost cried more than i jumped, it was a very sweet story, just the advertising was misleading.

well the creature wasn't that freaky but hey in real life if you ran into one of those things you wouldn't exactly be leaping for joy now would ya? i thought what was really cool was that you were afraid of these things but you weren't exactly sure what they were. you just knew you were supposed to fear them. oh yeah and my friends and i laughed a bit to. but we were still a little freaked out. the suspence gets to ya

I just saw it today and I thought it was ok. His other movies were better, though. I love Joaquin and Adrien Brody.

Did any of you catch M Night Shyamalan at the end?

Okay so I saw this movie too.. it wasn't what I had expected it to be (scary movie that made me jump out of my skin), but it wasn't horrible either. If anything, the twist in the end was quite pleasing. I've never seen a movie done like that ever before. The plot was terrific, but the execution of it could have been a little better. I found the love story, the moral, and the twist perfectly intwined with each other. I guess you just gotta look at the movie as a whole in order to appreciate it's concept. Plus.. its M Night Shyamalan! How could we expect anything different? happy.gif

it was whatever... I had been sayin' it was all hype... the storyline was interesting but unfortunately, I had guessed what was goin' on about a quarter into the movie...

I guess it was a good movie for anyone that didn't know what was goin' on while watchin' the movie... but if you started figurin' it out... it was lazy (not good)
