I have to buy a new laptop for my Graphic Design College classes. The problem is, we (my mother and I) are faced with 2 options. It is recommended to get a g4 ibook, but if money allows, teachers want you to get a g4 Powerbook. My roommate tells me that the ibook will run just as fast as the Powerbook if extra memory is added. Does anyone have any knowledge or comments on this, or the two laptops in general?

Powerbook is quite faster, more elegant (In my opinion), includes much more functionality, and is pretty much the staple laptop for any Graphics application, (Mac>PC in this department.)

If money is not an object, go with the Powerbook.

If you're on a tighter budget, by all means, go with the iBook, it's still a great, and viable, option.

look at this way, you can do about a hundred things faster with the ibook, the power house is limited.

get a powerbook, macs are great for webdesign, and if you go with a powerbook, then you will have the top of the line mac laptop.. i mean, hte ibook is a nice mac laptop, but if your taking a webdesign course, and your freind is telling you to put a little more money into an ibook, why not just put that extra money towards a powerbook?

i'd say ibook.
i've used both of dem, and trust me, nothin special between dem.
maybe better looks.
and speed is jus a little off.
u already haf a comp, right? u just need this laptop for a single html class.
if ur not gonna treat the laptop as a second comp then get ibook. it will get the job done, and that is the reason why u needed teh ibook in the first place.
just think it over again, focusing on your main purpose of buying the laptop. then think about it focusing on other uses n stuff. price comes into consideration too
