How did I miss this topic???? HIII MONNNAAAAAAA!!! Missed you around here!!

I'm pretty sure Steph still checks cB out (the last time I talked to her that's what she told me) but like myself, doesn't really post unless it's very pressing or interesting. Yep, this is what cB has turned into.

HIII! Haha. I haven't really talked to Steph but I sometimes see her photo galleries on Facebook. She's always doing something. :P

That was elementary school, it was completely French. When I moved to America I was amazed that schools were in English.

Oh, you went to a French school in Calgary? Lucky. I moved to Toronto partway through high school so a guidance counselor said it was too late for me to start beginner French. I took French in university but wow, oral French teacher was terrible. :(

Hellooo, I'm Joanne! But I see that JC's already introduced me...

I wish I took French immersion in elementary school! My mom apparently wanted to put me in French, but she said I cried when she asked me...

I've been wondering, how exactly does French-language education work in Canada? I have several friends from Vancouver and Edmonton who know French because they had to take it in high school, and some from Ontario (mainly Toronto and the surrounding area) who also took it then, but I also know some who never had to take French. None of them are really proficient, except for one who's fluent because she attended a French immersion school (jealous!).

I learned basic French in grade 4 through to grade 8. After grade 8, my high school allowed us to choose whatever language we wanted.

The things I learned were all really really basic. Generic phrases, numbers, colours, feelings, school supplies, furniture,... that stuff. I don't remember anything anymore though.

Fun fact: I met Gigi in our grade 8 French class.

I went to Banff Trail Elementary and every single class was French. It varies by region.

I actually don't know how it works here. It has to depend on the school then.. I found out that you have to go to the high school closest to you. I had to apply to get into my high school in New York but not here in Toronto. Perhaps that's the reason why that happened?
