QUOTE
We don't need no more rappers, we don’t need no more basketball players, no more football players; we need more thinkers. We need more scientists, we need more managers, we need more mathematicians, we need more teachers, we need more people who care…we need more women, mothers, fathers, we need more of that. We don’t need anymore entertainers. - Tupac

yes? no? maybe so? does anyone else feel we have plenty of entertainers? can we have too much? everyone and their mother wants to be famous nowadays. what is this obsession with fame? has the internet aided in increasing the fame obsession? or is it basically the same as it has always been?

I think the internet has made it easier but the mass desire has always been there.

i'm using it as inspiration to start a discussion about whether we need more entertainers and what we should make of the obsession to be famous

this.

and even if one doesn't have the desire to be famous in the general sense(entertainer: actor/comedian/singer/rapper/dancer), there are also still people who want to be known for what they know or discover, hence professors who write textbooks, scientists who do research, mathematicians who find new theorems, artists who find the "next big thing", etc. human beings like being liked, and you can't be liked if no one is aware of what you can do.
